Indeed. Will be our first time seeing them. Not sure why itโs taken so long.
My copy was delivered today - a belated Christmas present. Heading into London to see them next week too ๐
Listened to Theodore and Friends (and The Sea of Love) by The Adventures a couple of times over the last 3 weeks. Didn't make my top 5 but really enjoyed hearing them for the first time in a few years. Both purchased on vinyl in the late 80s ๐ Good to see they have been playing live again recently.
Morning Rich, here are my choices for #5DebutAlbums8589. Cheers!

Great to hear! I love Talk Talk and having really enjoyed reading Themes for Great Cities and Under the Ivy over the last year or so, I'm sure this will be excellent.
Hi Rich, here are my choices for #5debutalbums0509:

Thanks Rich, unfortunately means that neither of these qualify as each of the 4 artists had previously released solo albums. I guess it makes my selection slightly easier ๐
Both have a chance but Ballard of the Broken Seas is the more likely of the two to make my top 5. Love the Hoffs/Sweet cover of Distant Drum.
20 albums on my list of candidates for #5DebutAlbums0509 @richards7370.bsky.social do these both qualify?
Isobel Cambell & Mark Lanegan / Matthew Sweet & Susanna Hoffs

Really enjoying the new PG track. I wasn't aware of the monthly releases in 2024 that preceded the I/O album so excited to see what appears this year.
You may have already seen this but the latest issue of Uncut contains an article on The Monkees bsky.app/profile/uncu...

Ran my 100th Parkrun this morning. My daughter ran her fastest parkrun time - four and half minutes ahead of me ๐
Yeah, that would not be good ๐
We booked weekend tickets when they were first released. Not so fussed about Lewis Capaldi but am looking forward to seeing Dave Byrne and like you, The Flaming Lips.
Thanks for sharing Phil. A great list! Are you heading to Latitude next year?
I'd offer to buy you a beer there the next time I'm in Manchester but it doesn't look too appealing (or even open ๐) and there I've been to nicer places in the Marina and Norther Quarter.
That's understandable as you grew up there and remember what it used to be like. I don't recall going to Ancoats at all when I was a student in Salford but it's a vibrant area now especially for the 20 somethings ๐
#1985AlbumsTop20
1. This is the Sea - The Waterboys
Track pick: This is the Sea
I first saw The Waterboys live in June 1986 when they supported Simple Minds at Milton Keynes Bowl. Best band on the bill that day. This is an amazing album.
Thanks for hosting @musiccountdownguy.bsky.social

2. Songs from the Big Chair - Tears for Fears
Track pick: Head Over Heels / Broken (live)
Thought I recognised the pub - my daughter lives close by. I love the mix of old and new buildings in Ancoats.

One of my favorite Abba songs and I love the intro. Still got the 45 somewhere. Bought when I was 13 ๐ฎ
