In the 1950s some Texas legislators first proposed school vouchers. Right on the heels of the Supreme Court’s decision in Brown v School Board.
Texas school voucher applications are very different from racial make-up of Texas public schools. While schools are 54% hispanic, white families are far largest group applying. This may reignite 70 yr old charges that vouchers are just a re-segregationist tool. 🧵
