Spikeling allows people from outside the field of Neurophysiology to grasp essential concepts such as membrane voltage dynamics, synaptic integration, patching electrophysiology, calcium imaging, and have a better understanding to relate with the electrophysiology team.

its two-photon simulation generates a fluorescence/calcium-style readout, helping students interpret 2-photon data and analysis choices when working with open resources (e.g. @Allen Institute datasets).
