Flyer that says "I am a DC resident. I pay federal taxes. I have no vote in Congress." Picture of DC license plate saying "Taxation without Representation" Call to action: If you have representation, will you use it for me? Tell your members of Congress you support DC statehood."
🚨🚨 TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION is alive and well in the U.S.!!! 👀👀
D.C. residents who live in the nation's capital pay taxes but have no voting representation in Congress to help decide how our taxes are spent. As we work to fix our democracy, this HUGE hole needs urgent repair.
😡This is the same U.S. Park Police that was excited to do high-speed chases again under the federal occupation of D.C. that started in August 2025 and immediately led to 6 crashes THAT MONTH.

Hungarians improved their country and the entire world by staying determined, resisting, organizing, and when a chance came, turning out in huge numbers.
Inspiring. Reminiscent of the “No!” campaign that took down Pinochet in Chile. Shows what “there are more of us than there are of them” can do.
Not once in this story does @politico.com mention that US factories employ ~89,000 fewer employees than a year ago.

All the while, the mayor could have made all the footage public under a provision of law that allows her to release any body-camera footage if there's a public interest in doing so.
every time i write about wage theft i do a double take because it's so crazy
corporations steal more than $50 bn from workers' paychecks each year, illegally paying workers less than they earned for their labor
that significantly exceeds the combined losses from larceny, burglary, & vehicle theft
Text on graphic reads: The Department of Justice has dropped 23,000 criminal cases while prosecuting 32,000 new immigration cases in just the first six months of Trump’s second term. -Nearly 5,000: federal drug cases, including trafficking and money laundering -Over 900: cases of federal program or procurement fraud -More than 1,300: cases involving terrorism and national security
The DOJ quietly closed 23,000+ criminal cases in the first six months of Trump’s second administration, abandoning hundreds of investigations into terrorism, white-collar crime, drugs and other offenses as it shifted resources to pursue immigration cases.

#NoKings from the arctic in Utqiaġvik, Alaska the northernmost city in the entire USA!
Rep. Rosa DeLauro, top Dem on the House appropriations panel, says DHS is *choosing* not to pay TSA workers while paying its other employees.
She says:
85% of ICE + CBP are being paid
75% of Secret Service
0% of TSA workers
"The Department made that decision," DeLauro says on the House floor.
And I condemn the 5 Ds who voted to increase an authoritarian's control over DC - the nation's capital - and make us less safe: Henry Cuellar (TX), Don Davis (NC), Jared Golden (ME), Adam Gray (CA), & Marie Glusenkamp Perez (WA).
They are complicit in our democracy's decline.
Thanks for defending us Rep. Min! We in DC don't have a vote in Congress while the Rs are busy trying to overturn our own laws and make us less safe!
DC residents in Free DC shirts attending the Rules Committee meeting where our public safety needs will be ignored by the Republican majority
Another week, another attack on DC in the House. #FreeDC is at the House Rules Committee meeting where we expect H.R. 5103 to be advanced for a floor vote. Follow here for updates!
Thanks @rephuffman.bsky.social for calling H.R. 5103* what it is: "part of House Republicans’ broad and sweeping attack on Washington, D.C., home rule and self-governance. The bill is about advancing the crackdown and takeover of the District"
*It's true name should be "Making DC Less Safe"
Punchbowl confirms what I suspected in a post last night. Thune reached a deal with Dems to fund DHS except for ICE and Trump rejected it. DONALD TRUMP is to blame for airport chaos - not Democrats.
Being pro-democracy shouldn't end at the workplace.
Support democratic businesses to fight for a world that grants everyone a voice in the decisions that affect them.

There is no "center" between democracy and dictatorship.
Election officials in Washington D.C. have been holding voter education sessions across the city, ahead of its first ever ranked-choice elections. “We understand the power of the vote and we want to continue being a voter-friendly city,” says one.
The National Association of Colored Women's Clubs is one of the most under-told stories in American history. They fought lynching, organized for voting rights, and created the infrastructure that became the Civil Rights Movement. They didn't wait for inclusion. They built their own power.
DC folks actually sort of need to demand that heads roll over this. It’s a real problem if law enforcement in the capital is so pathetic, weak, and supine that their instinct is to act as stormtroopers for illicit federal power grabs.
The response when progressive policies that help millions of people are proposed...
"How will you pay for it?"
The response when the richest 1% ask for tax cuts, or banks ask for bailouts, or defense contractors ask for more contracts...
"How much do you need?"
It doesn't have to be this way.
On Wednesday, the lawsuit challenging warrantless arrests in DC will come before District Court.

Like clockwork.
