I worked with MTT in ‘87. His musicianship was unparalleled, but I’d rather talk about this. In an age when gay conductors of prominence were still expected to marry a woman and have flings on the side, MTT chose to live openly with the man he loved. In doing so, he became an inspiration to so many.
