When the first mice from a double conditional KO that took 16 months to generate show a massive phenotype (that looks exactly like you hoped it would). @thejenjay.bsky.social

Yes I have contacted the pain clinic to let them know this keeps happening, *hoping* they would find wherever they’ve listed the wrong number, but alas the calls keep coming.
Perhaps my favorite piece of Wright Lab lore is that we have a lab phone that we never ever use but every couple of weeks it rings and without fail it is a patient trying to call the hospital’s pain clinic and we just give them the right number and go about our day. We’re essentially a switchboard.
Right there with you! Such a privilege to stare at them all day.
I’m 32 years old and today I did a LOT of algebra for an image analysis pipeline I’m developing. Tell your kids - you never know when that shit will come in handy.
I love her.
And just like that, #AQLM2025 is over. Hopefully we’ll all find ourselves in the same windowless microscope room sometime soon, bead slide in hand.
Y’all should follow @aqlm.bsky.social to keep up with the cool topics in microscopy we’re covering this year! (I’m the social media intern)
Are the checks and balances in the room with us now?
I *would* say that we are going to see incredibly devastating [health, humanitarian, environmental] impacts of the current administration, but they’re making that data inaccessible. Interesting tactic, I wonder where they got the idea…

Congrats to @thejenjay.bsky.social and collaborators for their hard work, and thanks to NINDS, CureCMD and MDA for funding this project looking at hippocampal synapse function in mouse models of dystroglycanopathy
🥳 thanks! Now I just need to…write.
It’s official! Defense date set for March 4th 😎
😂
Haha apparently we can’t do gifs here??? Just gotta lean into it.
Our program also differentiates between thesis (masters ) and dissertation (PhD). But I think more importantly: OHSU loves acronyms - masters students have TAC meetings 😂
HOW is this only your first one! Everyone is going to be so psyched about your progress.
All I have to say about electrophysiology is that no other technique has made me bleed.
Tree branches, right?
On the confocal all day today and tomorrow to crank out a huge dataset. Look at those little Purkinje cell axonal swellings in the cell body layer! Not sure who they’d be talking to in that location. Some could be PC:PC?

Two feeding chairs for dogs. The one on the left is bigger and contains a corgi eating. The one on the right is smaller and contains a small black dog eating.
I just want more people to know that both of my dog children have megaesophagus and they eat their meals side by side in their special little feeding chairs.
