1/3 Pollutants don't stay in the water. In San Diego, we showed they become a previously unrecognized source of air pollution. Once inhaled, toxic chemicals and airborne pathogens have been linked to cancer, heart attacks, and dementia. As water pollution rises globally, this is everyone's problem.

Thank you...we are trying as hard as we can to fix a very serious issue...impacts of poor water quality on air. The air in South Bay San Diego is likely the most toxic air in the US. Gov Newsom refuses to act because it's not a zip code he protects. Sickening and inhumane. And he wants to be POTUS??

Historic and perplexing times where people who are not yet charged of a crime resign from Congress while a senile felon and pedophile remains in charge of our country.

5/ The County has declared a local emergency 22 times. Imperial Beach has been in continuous emergency since 2017. The CDC has documented the health effects. The law is clear.

Every requirement is met. The only thing missing is the Governor's signature.

4/ CA Gov Code § 8558(b) lists "air pollution" as the FIRST trigger for a state of emergency — before fire.
The word "international" appears nowhere in the statute. Nowhere.

His excuse doesn't exist in the law.

3/ Every precedent says act:

Nogales: AZ acted on Mexican sewage
Trail Smelter: Canada→WA, created international law
Potomac: 200M gal = instant emergency

Tijuana River does 200M gallons in ONE DAY. No declaration.

2/ He invested $500M+ to fight H₂S at the Salton Sea — a California lake.

South Bay H₂S peaks are 10x higher. Larger population. Same pollutant. Same law.

One gets a new state conservancy. The other gets "it's not our jurisdiction."

1/ Governor @gavinnewsom.bsky.social says he can't act on South Bay San Diego's toxic air because it's "international."

Funny — his own administration just spent $48M fixing sewage from Mexico flowing into Calexico. Celebrated it, too.

The pollution was from Mexico. California acted anyway.

4/6 CA has led the nation in environmental protection. That legacy is on the line. Why are you letting this happen? Communities suffering most in South Bay are low-income, predominantly Latino families. They deserve the same urgency afforded to wealthier communities facing environmental crises.

3/6 And unlike the Potomac, the Tijuana River carries massive toxic industrial waste — not just sewage. The complexity and scale of this contamination is unmatched anywhere in the United States. This is the worst air quality crisis at the US-Mexico border happening right now under your watch.
