I watched a few more of her films today. She's fairly young, pretty, dark-haired (occasional glasses); lively, funny, into trains and 'Doctor Who' and vegan food and long walks. In a perfect world, we'd be ideal for each other.

My Gaydar went off the scale. Just my type ... but untouchable.

I hate Starbucks and never got there if I have an alternative (which is most of the time) but now I have even more reason not to give them my business.

Well, the rain managed to hold off for ten minutes earlier. Unfortunately it takes me fifteen minutes to walk to town.

Weirdly enough, I watched that clip a couple of nights ago after we'd talked in the pub about the time he went down the Cresta Run. Not to mention his five-mile freefall parachuting. The man was a nutter - but always fun to watch.

I do like the architecture in Manchester, fair play.

Still from Pulp Fiction: Samuel L Jackson is standing up, pointing a gun downwards at a terrified man who is sitting. Jackson’s mouth is open as if shouting and the words “USE IMPACT AS A VERB AGAIN. I DARE YOU. I DOUBLE DARE YOU” have been added to the image

Lenin rose to the top of this revolutionary organisation by virtue of being the baldest.

Mining on the Moon is closer than ever, but challenges remain A scientist, an engineer, an archaeologist and a lawyer break down some of the physical, environmental, ethical and legal challenges of mining on the Moon.

Could this be my finest moment?

'"Your average space billionaire probably doesn't give a rat's arse about future generations," she said'.

I'm not sure I was expecting this to be quoted!

I've just watched a YouTube vlog by a young woman who caught a direct train from Manchester Piccadilly to Swansea - some 200 miles. You can't get a direct train or bus from the major towns at the heads of the South Wales Valleys, 25 or 30 miles away. Is it me?

The BBC Chose Transphobia over Science Transcript: Over the holidays, there was some news out of the UK that I wanted to highlight, lest it be lost in the news black hole that is Christmas and New Year: the British Broadcasting Corporat…

I’ve been talking a little about situation that led to me resigning from Monkey Cage on stage lately - this explains a little more about why trying to be a supportive voice to trans people and their allies was “problematic”

A page from one of Leonardo's notebooks, covered in sketches of cats, because every other account that tells you it's his birthday is going to use the Mona Lisa or that bloke with his arms out, but the internet is for cats

A page from one of Leonardo's notebooks, covered in sketches of cats, because every other account that tells you it's his birthday is going to use the Mona Lisa or that bloke with his arms out, but the internet is for cats

It’s the 574th anniversary of the birth of Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci (‘son of ser Piero from Vinci’), the 271st anniversary of the publication of Samuel Johnson’s A Dictionary of the English Language...

I’m sorry, but this is a terribly written paragraph. Took me ages to work out that the party leader who had visited Jaywick’s Sun Salon was not, in fact, Adolf Hitler.

Hey, let’s send the King to America to honour them for impoverishing us and bringing misery to tens of millions, all on the whim of a corrupt, deranged, idiotic President.

Are we nuts?

Iceland prices have gone up substantially as well. Farmfoods is reasonable for a lot of items, but only if you have a large family and a larger chest freezer. Pity Lidl is now four bus rides and £7 away from where we live.

A photo of the front cover of issue 1673 of Private Eye magazine, with the caption “on shelves now.”
The main headline reads “HUNGARY: ORBAN LOSES HISTORIC ELECTION.” The central image shows Viktor Orbán standing on stage alongside JD Vance, both raising their arms in front of a cheering crowd with Hungarian and US flags in the background. A speech bubble reads, “Who says America can’t achieve regime change?”
A strapline at the bottom reads “HUGE TRIUMPH FOR MAGA (SURELY MAGYAR? ED.).”
