Happy Birthday to Us!
None of this would be possible without our growing team.
Buckle up for year two. We’ve got a lot of work to do!
April 1st marked one year of DARC.
A lot has happened this past year. We’ve committed to the commons with OpenAleph, rolled out some major improvements and new features, collaborated on incredible projects, and most importantly, built a community that continues to challenge and inspire us.
The Data and Research Center (DARC) has joined the Global Open Data Integration Network (GODIN)
Wikidata expresses its support for the Global Open Data Integration Network (GODIN)
The Global Open Data Integration Network has a new member - @dataresearchcenter.bsky.social - and a new supporter - @wikidatacommunity.bsky.social.
Find out how GODIN helps to connect organisations that publish open data or create open standards godin.gleif.org

...and then dive deeper into our new document translation feature: openaleph.org/blog/2026/03...
...as well as our improvements in ingesting and extracting information from emails: openaleph.org/blog/2026/03...
And yes, the UI got a little glow-up too.

In the Readwrite newsletter, Jan stresses that "that technical frustration is secondary to the much bigger issue: that there still appears to be no meaningful accountability for what was done to girls and young women"
Jan Strozyk, has published a write-up of the messiness of the latest Epstein files release from the US DOJ.

Was macht eigentlich @darcdataresearch.bsky.social?

🚨 New in OpenAleph: Geocoded Addresses
Names & IDs are key for finding connections, but geography tells a story too.
Now you can:
📍 Map entities
🏠 Spot shared addresses
🕵️♀️ Explore what’s nearby
🧩 Uncover hidden links
A new lens for network mapping & company sleuthing.
#OpenAleph #OSINT #DataTools
With geocoded addresses now built into OpenAleph, you can map entities, spot who shares an address, explore what’s nearby, and uncover links that
aren’t immediately obvious.
A new lens for mapping networks, shell companies, and proximity-based connections.
🚨 New in OpenAleph: Geocoded Addresses
Investigators often look for links between names, companies, or IDs, but geography tells its own story, and sometimes it's the missing piece.
#IguanaPapers: BBC carried out a years-long investigation into a Colombian state-owned oil company after a whistleblower leaked 100s of internal emails & documents. On publication day, they made the documents available, @darcdataresearch.bsky.social made them searchable: www.bbc.com/news/article...
Whether you just want to lurk or contribute, we'd love to see you there!
#OSINT #OpenAleph #DARCSocial
Darc.social is growing, and we've been actively sharing OpenAleph updates there. If you're into OSINT, building a shared library of datasets for investigations, or helping shape the future of OpenAleph and other investigative tools, come join the conversation.
Let us know if you're going to be there. We'd love to hang out and share some stickers!

Can't wait to catch you all at Netzwerk Recherche Jahreskonferenz 2025! We'll be running two workshops:
Tracking Ships, Planes, and Other Vehicles: lnkd.in/e3zH7nVi
Einführung in OpenAleph: Das Neue Daten-Tool: lnkd.in/enSk7PEs
Jan spoke about DARC’s commitment to open source tools and why we run our
own physical servers to host infrastructure critical to our clients, like OpenAleph.
Huge thanks to Sabrina
for the thoughtful questions and the other panelists for the engaging discussion.
At Publix, our co-founder Jan Lukas Strozyk joined Alexandra Borchardt and Wafaa Albadry for a live podcast panel hosted by Sabrina Faramarzi, digging into who controls the tech that powers journalism, and what we can do about it.
Thank you so much!
Karina, Simon, and Jan will be there to join the conversations and run a couple of workshops:
Tracking Ships, Planes, and Other Vehicles: lnkd.in/e3zH7nVi
Einführung in OpenAleph: Das Neue Daten-Tool: lnkd.in/enSk7PEs
We're going to be at this year's Netzwerk Recherche Jahreskonferenz!
