i know a lot of people use social media as a news-discovery tool and there's value in that. but i do think the fact you're more likely to see the reactions to headlines (despair, rage, confusion, sarcasm) before even a snippet of copy means you're plunged into the deep-end of discourse each time.

Hey Dart! This is random but I spoke with Blondy shortly before her death, and the story is still to come. I thought you'd be a good voice to speak to the historical significance of The Sequence, but wasn't sure the email address I had was up to date. Happy to chat more in a DM!

Amid going slightly insane covering Tennessee's legislative session, I got a chance to touch grass (or in this case, touch creek) and tell the story of the small but mighty Nashville crayfish.

After I read NY Mag's profile of Altman calling him the next Oppenheimer I had to Google "what does Sam Altman actually do?" because that feature-length article did not spell out any skill-based credentials.

I know the Y is a Christian organization but still surprised how much more religious the Nashville location I go to is compared to my old YMCA in Boston. Parking is better though, so πŸ™ I guess.

Even so, I think today's flock of centrist pundits would have been won over by a career politician who pointed to unruly progressives, inpatient for change and seemingly uninterested in debate or politicking, and said "these are the true enemies."

Some of it may be due to the book's structure (Nixon's battles with Dems and the press are presented as cyclical) and some of it has to do with Nixon's bald-faced lies but I do think it points to how even today many media elites (in particular editorial boards) are as fickle as the voting public.

Listening to 'Nixonland' as a journalist is interesting. Sometimes there are amazing feats of reporting or surprising levels of nuance to how contemporary journos covered student and anti-war movements. And sometimes there's just a wave of suckers and racists glomming onto law-and-order screeds.

Sometimes I just need to sit farther back from the TV and I'll adjust to it all. But sometimes I just gotta mess with the options β€” and I don't think I've ever really missed motion blur or anything. Lowering the camera sensitivity can help too but that's trickier to balance and varies game to game.

How do I stop getting motion sickness from video games? "I turn out to get really motion sick, and sometimes get visual migraines, especially from first person games."

This was a nice read. I think options like motion blur should be included in the initial settings preferences, like brightness is β€” would certainly save me some discomfort when diving into newer games.
