I used to use 'have a nice life' with people I expected to only meet the once. I thought it was nice until a friend told me he hated it as it sounded so definitive and ending.

Why juries are necessary, as a public stay against the recent stripping away of protest rights by the legislative, police and courts.

Probably one of the origins of the song "A Wizards Staff Has A Knob On The End"

If you are on the train to London from here you can also see Alton Barnes' horse out the other side about 20 mins later. (Alton Barnes/Priors twin churches with the horse in view are also worth a visit, always feels like I'm in a children's folklore-ridden storybook)

For interest: here is Ravilious' painting of the same scene in reverse - this time from up by the Westbury horse looking at the train

Likewise! I also think of this Ravilious painting when I spot it from the train.

This weekend. An interesting feast of talks on Magic & Witchcraft by some knowledgeable folks. Online, cheap (£2 a lecture) & with the cherry on top that ticket holders will get recordings.

Rules aren't rules. Rules: Ss weren't fs...they don't have a cross bar... Ss are S at the front of words... S is 'f' when s is s and s when s is z. Except when they're not.

Agree. But on the plus side I've found someone else who will reference Michael Rimmer. A criminally underrated and forgotten film.

Seeing those masks does make me think Nandor, from What We Do In The Shadows, was right and Crêpe paper is actually Creepy paper. I wonder if the distorting nature of wrinkly Crêpe material was why it was used.

History is our memory. When I was involved in the anti-poll tax rebellion of the 1990s something that was often mentioned was the anti-poll tax rising of the 1380s. 600 years earlier. As an inspiration and responsibility to stand up again. We have long memories & this time we won.

Still doing it. BBC radio news summary last night framing it around what NF says: 'Nigel Farage says report on by election an establishment whitewash'

And Gods/God just seems like an issue of fairness. If one is capitalised so should the other.

I struggle with this, in exactly these scenarios. I guess in my head directions and seasons are places and characters.

One of my favourite songs, mainly because it is so out of place with the rest of their tunes

To me, trying to beat each other at the 'catch the bar tenders eye' and 'squeeze to the front' competition seems much more a crowd of individuals than the communal fairness of queuing.

I hated it but... if u forget it is connected to WM, there are elements there that feel like a 70s hard to find B movie, or a pastiche of one shot as a TV episode of the more comic minded Midsomer Murders, that has yet to be fully edited. Shows how much the success of the WM was collaborative effort

I find the writing style of some Arthurian stuff a turgid slog (however interesting they are) but Chretien's are a joyful read.
