"As a result of the continued fighting, Sudan faces the world’s worst humanitarian, displacement, and hunger crises. More than 13.6 million people are displaced, 30 million are in need of assistance, and over 22 million are facing acute hunger."
Ending the war in Sudan cannot wait.
With a major internal review happening now at the IMF, there’s a window to rethink what works and what doesn’t. @tekaldas.bsky.social makes the case for a shift toward policies that move away from austerity and actually deliver inclusive, sustainable growth. www.project-syndicate.org/commentary/i...

This one hits hard.
Muzan Alneel was our first Sudan fellow. She taught me so much, she challenged me, and she brought to life what it means to center people in policy. A beautiful soul that our community will be so much poorer without.
Rest in peace, dear Muzan. May we do your memory justice.🤍
On the 3-year anniversary of the war in Sudan, TIMEP joins Sudanese and international partners in writing to US leadership to urge the administration to use its leverage with external actors to bring an immediate end to the war.

Muzan was an essential voice in our early Sudan work and we are indebted to her for her insights, ideas, and beautiful spirit. We will forever remember her and honor what she stood for.
Today, our hearts are with Muzan's family and loved ones. May she rest in peace and power.
In her all-too-short time on earth, Muzan adeptly wove together her interdisciplinary background across engineering, socioeconomics, and public policy to imagine a better future for Sudan. She advocated for the resistance committees and proposed people-centric economic policy.
With the heaviest of hearts, today we mourn the passing of Sudanese writer, thinker, and advocate Muzan Alneel. Muzan, who served in our 2021-2022 nonresident fellow cohort, leaves behind an incredible legacy of policy ideas and impact that consistently centered the Sudanese people.
Imagine returning home for the first time in nearly three years after fleeing a harrowing war.
In this truly beautiful piece for @timep.bsky.social (you'll be balling and laughing through it all), Mahitab Mahgoub writes on returning to Khartoum--with all of what that entails.
US citizen Ahmed Shihab-Eldin was arrested six weeks ago in Kuwait, faces prosecution before a special tribunal for his social media posts, and remains behind bars today.
Kuwaiti authorities can still course correct by dropping all charges against him and releasing him immediately.

“Justice must begin with breaking the cycle of impunity. A gender-sensitive lens is essential to fully recognize the impact of violations on vulnerable individuals. Transitional justice should center survivors not as passive victims, but as active agents,” notes Lina.
