Congratulations! Exciting work; it seems like CeA is critical for hedonic food consumption, who would have guessed 😉

Chemogenetic inhibition of CeA GLP-1R neurons resulted in a strong rescue of Ex-4-mediated reductions in high fat diet intake using a hedonic intermittent access paradigm. This suggests that this cell type is playing a pivotal role in the neural circuitry mediating reductions in appetite by GLP-1s.
But what about the target of these drugs? Those that express the GLP-1 receptor. Turns out the CeA has many cells that express GLP-1R, enriched in the medial portion. Our initial characterization here:
pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35002645/
But is this just an association or is there a causal relationship? Here's where we used inhibitory chemogenetics combined with an army of FED3s (hat tip @kravitzlab.com) to assess whether activation of the CeA was required for the hypophagic actions of Ex4.
Really thrilled to share my lab's latest work where we characterize the role of the CeA in integrating exogenous GLP-1 signals.

I have been trying to get this published as an op-ed, but I am going to post it here since I think it is timely in light of the "consent" extortion events.

It is impossible to explain to civilians how it feels to finally, FINALLY, land a clearly within-payline NIH grant score and then have it go unfunded because of all this regime bullshit.
You all have my sympathies. Unfair doesn’t even begin to describe it.
