THANK YOU. I know we’re all having fun with making up jokey four-word replies. That reply — six words — is the actual reply as far as I can tell, but the headline says four words. What gives?

The album version has some good solos in it. Decent jazz to my ear. A rare crossover to early 70s AM pop radio. The radio edit didn’t do it any favors though.

Heh, pretty funny. I even have a DDR stamp in my old passport … it’s somewhere around here … (blows dust off) …

No, “AI” is not a Stochastic Parrot 🦜 I’ve recently come across a new flavor of AI denialism making the rounds.

"AI" is not a stochastic parrot.🦜
I wrote this piece a couple weeks ago, but it was hard for me to finish up given AI's role in society and war over the past few weeks. I should share it at some point though. Not perfect, but here it is.

TL;DR ICE gunman in his hotel room was adjusting the backstrap on his Glock, which was loaded and had a round chambered. Gun fired, bullet tore through his shirt, went through the wall and into the next room. No injuries.

Did you hear about the case where the off duty DHS gunman accidentally shot a hole through his sweatshirt and his hotel room wall? Somebody on Mastodon posted the police report; I’ll dig it up.

What gave it away is not Lutnick's answer, but Van Hollen merely saying "Very well then, continue." He'd never say that.

Now that I think of it BoT also has a suicide/sacrifice theme. “In a different reality, I could have called you friend. … Just one more duty to perform.”

Not worth quibbling about exact order. BoT is definitely in there. IMO so is Doomsday Machine. As a youngster I was scared by the planet killer, but Decker’s sacrifice permanently lodged itself into the back of my head. (You and I had an exchange about suicide on the birdsite.)

In Gattaca (1997) they wore suits and ties for space travel. Quite the upgrade.

This is my full 50-page statement to Gov. Pritzker's "Illinois Accountability Commission," trying to explain comprehensively the depth of corruption, culture, and training problems within ICE and CBP. I hope you'll at least consider scanning through it: drive.google.com/file/d/1y0im...

Thank you for watching it so I don’t have to.

Instead of ICE/CBP “agents” or “officers” I prefer to call them paramilitary forces, militias, or masked gunmen.

Maureen Dowd didn’t want to admit to this one?

Good article. While it’s popular to call ICE/CBP fascists or nazis or thugs or whatever, these are easily dismissed as mere name-calling. Instead we should use descriptive terms used for similar groups in other countries, such as “paramilitary forces” or “extremist militia“ or “masked gunmen”.
