this is another very inflammatory headline which makes much more sense when you read the article itself
oil prices are about to make polyester a noble fiber
Microshifting: Fitting paid labor around and between non-work responsibilities and priorities. Performance is judged by output instead of hours logged behind a screen. Job duties are tackled in short, productive bursts instead of a single 9 to 5 stretch.

The flip side is that big business will pick up the bill since they are the biggest users of gas and this is why this much needed reform was stalled for years first by the Tories and now by Labour.
I worked for the energy industry for 4 years and you don't need to cap prices or raise taxes to lower the bills. All you need is energy markets reform that will decouple gas from the general market. This will lower the bills of 90% of consumers instantly.
no thanks, we're still trying to recover after he "helped" us last time
Research shows women are less likely to apply for jobs with huge salary ranges. Women applied just as often as men to job ads which clarified how pay is determined, even with the wider pay ranges. There was also no gap in negotiation behavior.

Companies are cleansing their layoff announcements with a big dose of AI strategy talk. Cutting jobs this way is a convenient bit of corporate magic.
I have seen similar results from UK private testing. Patients understandably expect tests they see heavily advertised to be accurate and meaningful. Often they aren't
I'm dismayed by rumours govt may scrap the windfall tax on oil and gas giants
With energy bills still driving cost of living pressures, it's senseless to cut taxes for highly profitable polluters, who already receive £2.7bn per year in tax breaks

Currently helping an elderly family friend figure out if an email is a scam (which it obviously is) and hey, people who make mobile email apps, it's a dark pattern to not make the email address of the sender visible without needing to click on the little arrow thing.

Absolutely terrifying.
Henry Shelford, chief executive of charity ADHD UK: it is "hateful and cruel how badly the overall NHS treats people with ADHD”.
A 2018 study (N=46K) of DNA samples & questionnaires found no genes associated with sex played a role in empathy. Women display more empathy, not because it is innate, but because girls are socialized to act on their emotions & prioritize needs of others. www.bbc.com/future/artic...
There is no LGB without the T. We rise together and we fall together.

Effective fertility policy: Remote work. If both parents work at home at least one day/week, they'll average 0.5 more children, pushing toward the “replacement” level of 2.1. A result of opportunity and availability, less time commuting=more time parenting. www.nytimes.com/2026/02/09/o...
ReformUK: "We're the party of the working class that's why our candidate is a liberal arts academic"
Meanwhile the Greens: "Our candidate is a plumber"
Claude is infinitely better than Gemini, but I'm not surprised. Anthropic's only meaningful revenue stream are these deals while Google still has its ads business & YouTube to fund generous discounts.
While firms are not replacing significant #'s of workers with AI, occupations at most risk are women-dominated, (court clerks, admin assts, payroll clerks). Of 6M workers who would have hardest time finding a new job due to AI-related job loss, 86% are women. www.cbsnews.com/news/ai-job-...
