Dear Congress (especially Dems in Congress), if you keep doing nothing, you're helping to fast-track a WW3 with the US as the bad guys. Do something! Even if it's just being obstructionist. @housedemocrats.bsky.social

New video on why complaining about woke-ness in games is, at best, a distraction. youtu.be/n3Zvdm-rNZI
As far as I know, those other types of AI were a thing programmed by people to act in a certain way when given specific parameters, where OpenAI steals its “ideas” from creators on a massive scale.
And to be clear, I’m talking specifically about OpenAI and its ilk, not other things AI might mean in relation to video games.
And that’s bad for indie developers, too. They’re the ones with new ideas. And now when something is mildly popular, AI models will just throw that into its algorithm for larger companies to use and make much more money off of.
I mean, by design, AI just pulls whatever it can from huge databases and rolls them together without any attention paid to how “good” the end result is. The more we use AI, the more we’re just regurgitating things that have already been done.
And as far as games go, large AAA games are already overly homogenized in an attempt to appeal to more and more people, and that’ll get much worse the more big companies (like Larian) use AI.
and they’re doing everything they can to MAKE it be the future.
then people higher up the ladder start expecting more in less time, since everyone’s using AI anyway. Managers, CEOs and others at the top don’t say AI is the future because they really think it’s inevitable. They say that because it means they’ll be able to squeeze out more product for less money,
I don’t necessarily hold anything against single people using AI to make things a little easier in the workplace (though it's wasteful, I understand a pressured employee's struggle), but it does open up a can of worms. First, workers in a large firm/corporation/etc. decide to use AI to work quicker,
...if all they’re using it for is inspiration, then how is using AI any better than just being inspired by the things you’ve loved…like they did with Divinity: Original Sin, Divinity: Original Sin 2, and Baldur’s Gate 3?
Late to the conversation here, but I was kinda disappointed in Larian's AI comments, even after Vincke's statement. I mean, if they’re going to use AI, this does seem like the most appropriate way. But...

Day 29: Most Anticipated Game
This one's easy. The long wait for #Avowed is almost over! After its initial announcement in July 2020, it'll finally be here on February 18th.
Here's hoping for a killer year for #Obisidian!

Day 28: Favorite Genre
Man, how do I choose between Fantasy RPG and Horror? I guess it's just whatever I'm feeling at the time. And since Avowed's release is just around the corner, I'm gonna go with fantasy RPG. It's my first love, too.

Haven't tried gritty difficulty yet. This makes me even more scared.

It's just a game, not a series, but the Rot in Kena: Bridge of Spirits are adorable and give the game so much character!

I always see this game at the bottom (or close to the bottom) of ranked Zelda game lists. But goddamn, it's a great game. Still can't beat it, but I love it! I'm convinced it's Dark Souls before Dark Souls.

Still have only won once (my first game!), but loving it!

Having a really good time with this game! Probably about halfway through the adventure and the strategy and story keep me coming back.

Day 26: Favorite Series
Has to be Final Fantasy. Loved watching my friend play the first game in middle school. VI (then III) taught me what a game could be. XIV is by far my most played game. And still loving the series with XVI.

Got to an ending in my Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire lorethrough! Still planning on going through the DLCs and other endings, but wanted to at least see an end before Avowed.
Prologue points to episodes that may be helpful before Avowed comes out. www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...

Day 24: Best OST
Before I change my mind again, gotta go with Octopath Traveler here. The music is so catchy, I'll often just stop actually playing to just listen. It also allowed for this video to happen: youtu.be/b7Zc3f8cPnU?...

Day 23: First pre-order
Can't be 100% sure, but it was probably Final Fantasy VIII. VII is the game that made me buy a Playstation, so I'm pretty sure my first pre-order would have been either VIII or IX.

I wrote this first (by accident) in your quote post commending BlueSky interactions. Sorry if you got 2 notifications.
It looks gorgeous, and the fact that it's found its way into the the middle of the "culture war" makes me want to play it even more...
...but I also never want to give Ubisoft another dime for the rest of my life.

Day 21: Best Character Customization - Baldur's Gate 3
I know it's a basic choice, but the whole creation experience is sublime. Some great options to make a character that suits you, and an incredible song to listen to while you create.
