Some pics yesterday at the symposium celebrating the 300th anniversary of B. J. Feijoo's "Defense of women" (1726) in the first volume of his essay-collection 'Critical Theatre of Common Errors'. Enlightening discussions of traditions & modernities, receptions & reuses.

Just arrived in Madrid to participate in this symposium on Benito J. Feijoo's "Defense of women de las mujeres" (1726), its context and uses, organised by colleagues in Philosophy (20-21 April, UAM).
I'll talk about its transnational circulation and reinterpretations.

Tomorrow I will be talking from this beautiful island about islands and imaginary travels through letters and reading at yet another historical venue, palazzo Ingrassia.

Today it was my pleasure to inaugurate the series "Pensare la storia moderna" at Università di Catania with a lecture on women, Catholicism and Enlightenment, at a very appropriate venue: "le Verginelle", in the 17c a school for girls. Great debate! Grazie, Cinzia Recca.

In a few days I will be in Catania with two lectures (in Italian) for master's students and colleagues on women, Enlightenment and Catholicism, and on islands and imaginary travels.
Do join us if you happen to be in the city on 16th and 17th April!
