The Pentagon plans to keep National Guard troops deployed through 2029. That’s not a temporary surge. That’s a permanent fixture. Ask yourself why.

He is now facing extensive surgery soon to rebuild his deteriorating jaw. It's quite an intensive process. He will be wired-up and nonverbal for a month. He is handling the situation with grace and acceptance, though any other response is just as valid.
My husband, Jason, contributed a blurb to This Podcast Will Kill You's series on Cancer. His is their 1st firsthand account. You can hear it (06:50 - 09:25) here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYZE...
(If you instead listen to the audio-only version on your own podcast player, it's 01:58 - 04:30.)
My working disabled family finally felt the relief of being able to move locations or careers without upending healthcare for ongoing medical issues. It was freeing to suddenly have a wider array of options to improve our lives without endangering our healthcare.
For those who have forgotten the past 40 years:
Tax cuts for the rich
...don’t trickle down
Boosting military spending
...doesn’t bring peace
Slashing regulations
...doesn’t create jobs
Folks, we’ve seen this all before.

Cue my mother watching *that* episode of Geraldo in 1988. She accused me of displaying "the signs of Satanic worship."
"Mom, those are the 'signs of being a teenager.'" 🙄
Just a random reminder that over 50 members of Congress collectively own millions of dollars in defense contractor stocks.
They stand to personally profit from wars that enrich these contractors.
Make no mistake, this is legalized corruption.
Watch how they vote this week.
A portrait of Frederick Douglass gazing intently a bit to the side. His eyes hold sorrow and pride and I can feel his ferocity towards the practice of slavery.
A very happy chosen birthday to Frederick Douglass. His life started with cruelty and ended with freedom. He arguably did more for abolition than anyone besides Abraham Lincoln. There are LOTS of vids and blogs about him. Please learn more, and PLEASE learn from BLACK educators!

Happy Anna Howard Shaw Day! #Feb14
Feeling seen...and not liking it much because I'm Gen X. I'm better at being quietly reliable than a stand-out.
BREAKING: The House passed the so-called SAVE America Act which threatens to upend our freedom to vote.
The bill could disenfranchise millions of eligible voters by requiring documents like passports or birth certificates to register to vote and forcing voter roll purges. The Senate must reject it.
A reminder: The Attorney General of the United States should be the people's lawyer, not the president's personal attorney. The Department of Justice should act to protect the public, not the occupant of the Oval Office and his political allies.
The Grammys. The Olympics. The Super Bowl. The message is that the world loves diversity. Don’t let the billionaires tell you otherwise.
Happy Superb Owl!
A reminder:
I watch a lot of thrillers and I find the mood music overwhelming. For me, music is always whelming, but often overwhelming. Suspense music is hard for me to take, bordering on impossible sometimes. I guess it's a sensory thing and I'd like to be able to turn off the soundtrack.
Two down! I have had issues with anxiety this past year and I'm hoping this helps with that too. I'm not used to nearby neighbors, having lived in the boonies for the last 16 years. I think this cookie gifting is the right move. At least it's tasty. Four more neighbors to go!
Today, instead of my normal daily writing, I'm baking cookies to give to my neighbors. I'm fairly new to the neighborhood so I'm giving out my best cookies and introducing myself. I want the people around me to feel safe and supported during this troubled time.
The agency’s plan would narrow water quality reviews and eliminate one of the few ways that tribes can their enforce treaty rights.
I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

This should be big news, but it’s barely a whisper.
The Trump admin is focusing on the wrong problem. The fraud isn’t w/SNAP recipients, it’s with outside scammers.
USDA let outdated SNAP cards stay vulnerable, and families lost about $555 million in food benefits, not to “cheating,” but to theft.
Wilhoit’s Law:
“Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.”
People want to have their basic needs met.
They want to be paid a living wage.
They want to stop being nickle and dimed by powerful corporations who control so much of our lives.
They do not want Venezuela.
They do not want Greenland.
They do not want masked thugs terrorizing our communities.
