Just bizarre that some people think "we can never raise taxes on ordinary people/middle income earners" is a *left-wing* position.

Basically just reheated Thatcherism/starve-the-beat Republicanism.

Miliband was right that Mandelson is bad, best avoided. You said it yourself - Miliband has more experience with Mandelson than Starmer did. Ergo Starmer should have listened to Miliband on this.

No leader knows everything. That's ok. So leaders need to choose wisely who they take advice from.

7 hours ago 3 0 1 0

Perhaps Starmer should have listened to Miliband about Mandelson then?

Miliband famously shoved Mandelson away from power in the Labour Party in 2010-2015. And it's not like Starmer doesn't have Miliband on call for advice if he wants to. Miliband got him into politics! They're personal friends!

We can’t trust Palantir with our NHS data Is this really the company we should be entrusting with our health service’s digital architecture?

"Palantir is not just a problem of profiteering from our national healthcare system— it's a fundamental threat to the democratic control of our public infrastructure + the privacy of every citizen. By giving our taxes to this company, we are aiding their operations everywhere."

Labour’s great green energy plan could be a legacy as vital as the NHS | Polly Toynbee Ed Miliband has a rare chance to do for the climate what Nye Bevan did for health: create something future generations will be proud of, says Guardian columnist Polly Toynbee

"Labour’s great green energy plan could be a legacy as vital as the NHS".

I agree. More power to Ed Miliband's elbow. Sod the haters in the rightwing press. They hate him because he's winning.

- Your reminder that the Americans are murdering boats full of innocent random fishermen every week, under Trump's ludicrous claims that they're all drug dealers.

It's silly and wrong to act like Trump was gonna be committed to pacifist foreign policy before the Israelis blackmailed him. And, yes, it is in fact anti-Semitic. For one thing, there's evidently a section of the American military establishment who have been gagging for war with Iran for decades.

We all know Reform are far right. But guess what? Now under Badenoch, the Tories are too.

You couldn't fit a cigarette paper between them.

One Labour official who knows Starmer well said that while McSweeney, a protégé of Mandelson’s, wanted to send him to Washington, Starmer was never that close to him.

“Keir didn’t even really like Mandy, and suspended his judgment as he does so often,” the person said. “At that point, the machine took it [Mandelson’s appointment] as his intention and does what the British state does, which is bend the process to the signal it thinks is being broadcast from the principal.”

No Conservative should be allowed to speak on this matter without being reminded that Boris Johnson failed his security vetting, yet the Tories appointed him to be Foreign Minister and then Prime Minister.

Meet James Bembridge, the Reform candidate for Westminster in next month’s local elections.

As well as this tweet, Temu Lex Luthor here, has also been quoted as saying "Most NHS nurses look like they're eating food banks out of business."

Don’t let him get his deposit back.

Captive? Pawn? Ridiculous. Israel is a pawn of the USA. It is America's client state, not the other way round.

Stop indulging in antisemitic BS. Israel isn't forcing the USA to do ANYTHING.

The American government (Trump et al) are doing all this violent evil shit because they are CHOOSING to.

When Angela Rayner underpaid £40,000 in stamp duty, Richard Tice said it was "morally completely indefensible” and she should resign if she had “any moral decency”.

Now we learn he set up four shell companies that let him avoid paying ÂŁ100,000 he owed in tax and to then transfer the cash to Reform

I think Starmer very probably lied about not knowing what's going on. Who really believes that it's all a civil servant's fault and Starmer had no idea? Which just means he's lying politician #13480924.

Meanwhile, Reform are literally being funded by the proceeds of lawbreaking.

Reform are leading the polls. They are likely to be running the country soon.

No-one is saying Labour scandals shouldn't be covered. But 7 out of 12 top articles on 1 Labour scandal while completely ignoring a massive Reform scandal is not balanced scrutiny, it's propaganda.

Yep. Anyone who thinks that, before we start building massive-scale renewable energy infrastructure, we need to defeat global capitalism doesn't understand the urgency of the climate crisis.

Want world peace and socialism? Sure. Good. But we don't have time to wait for that. We need to do this NOW.

On the BBC News Politics website, this huge scandalous story is... nowhere.

Meanwhile, 7 out of the 12 top articles are on Starmer/Mandelson.

Why do we allow our national broadcaster to be a nakedly partisan, Reform-loving, hard-right propaganda outlet?

NEW: Richard Tice failed to pay almost ÂŁ100,000 in corporation tax, benefiting his investment company which made large donations to Reform UK.

First time Reform's deputy leader's tax affairs can be directly linked to finances of Nigel Farage's party.

Dear God, can't we just have ONE decent party which backs large-scale renewable energy infrastructure and doesn't hate immigrants? Please? Is that so much to ask?
