i need to remind myself to update my git repository more often, ahah. hadn't pushed any new commits since mid-january... i keep a local backup as well but it's nice to have the online copy for extreme safety.

i also need to hammer out an issue with springs that can occasionally crop up but. yeah, it's getting too late to do bugfixing.

i have mostly polished off all the level design things i wanted to, though, and i added secret indicators, so that part's good to go.

sort of a quick hack fix but ehh, it seems like it's working? and doesn't break anything else? i don't like cases this sloppy but there have been an unfortunate number of them i will need to clean up eventually.

ahh, the fix i did for the ceiling slide did in fact break something else and it's stupid. hmm. how do i resolve this.

really i just need to add in the "secret" indicators. i will implement an actual thing for them later but for now i'm just gonna add graphics.

honestly i think this test level is about ready to be playtested by others, i need to figure out how to generate an exe in godot but i'm sure it's easy. like, i could do some more polish but for what this needs to be i think it works fine as-is.

y'know, i'm actually pretty happy with this as a fun little playground room, there's a lot of little things you can do here & it's got room to showcase pretty much all of the movement mechanics used in the test level! it's also got my fox i made way back at the start of development so ๐ŸฆŠ

alright figured it out, a case i added for corners on the ground was also triggering on the ceiling, which it didn't need to, added an extra check and it immediately stops happening and i can't recreate the issue now. should? be good?

it's like. not properly sticking to the ceiling when it hits right at a corner, i think :s corners are evil. why did we invent them.

gonna try and iron out the one ceiling slide bug i'm seeing but i'm struggling to understand what causes it. i see two separate ceiling slides trigger but it's actually the first one that's the problem anyways? as far as i can tell? it's very weird

also probably need to work on the actual controller feel, the heavy use of r1 in the current setup i can imagine being rough on peoples' hands but i don't know where else to put the slide action without it being too inaccessible, aheh. it's stuff i can work out. nothing is finalized yet.

maybe putting too much effort into rooms that playtesters may not even find, anyways. this one's kind of evil in a different way but it is also easily the most hidden room of the level.

it's something that obviously needs to be refined but to do that i need to have something to start with, and now i have that!

i wanna make a big playground room at the end of the level and i will do that tomorrow but it'll be less. designed, i suppose, i'll see ahah.

ended up finishing out this room, or something like that, playtesting it a little... there's a lot of roughness i really need to work out (and i definitely need to fix that ceiling slide bug, it's getting really annoying now ahah) but i'm happy enough with the actual level design.

i also don't have keyboard inputs set up but i may work around that by writing the relevant keyboard letters on each decal for now. i'll have it be dynamic later based on input but that's too much work for the moent.

there's one spot i'm considering adding something else but i think i'll let it come up in playtesting if other people are struggling to understand it. i feel like i communicated it okay but it's the hardest mechanic to explain in just button presses, i think.

a little out of the level design headspace at the moment, but i need to draw up some tutorial decals for button inputs and that sounds easy enough to do right now so i think i will.
