That’s a good but separate question. The fact that you have ended up with a shitty choice through no fault of your own doesn’t take away your responsibility for making the best choice possible.

How is this debunked? I know it’s not palatable, but the two possible outcomes were genocide or genocide+. There was no moral action available to voters come election day that didn’t make one of these more likely.
it’s not only dumb and evil it’s stupidly inconsistent, but I imagine the target audience would neither notice or care

I share that fear and will be first to call it out if and when that happens. Recipients are not to blame for cost blowouts and we are still in a situation where, as Clem details, people cannot secure needed supports while stupid rules inflate the expense.
A large proportion of relatively lower-needs autistic NDIS recipients should have been covered by state-based services - but those services vanished. There is now an attempt underway to fix that, but I’m not surprised that there’s very little trust in the community.
I absolutely agree about the stigmatising of autistic people, as the parent of two autistic children extremely sensitive to that, and the danger that their overemphasis on media has for the scheme as a whole. However, as the piece I posted seeks to explain, we were never supposed to be where we are

pretty good, sober piece about why the NDIS has blown out so much. Clearly it has to be reformed, but when we are still hearing stories about folks with severe needs being denied support it's hard not to worry that the wrong people will be cut off. www.theage.com.au/politics/fed...
