Absolutely, there’s an urgent crisis in this country,” says @jason4care.bsky.social, president of the National Alliance for Caregiving.

Thread on latest language for the "rural health transformation program" intended to mitigate devastating cuts rural hospitals will face under the reconciliation bill. While the language may still change the program gives even more disturbing discretion to HHS Secretary in awarding the $ (1/x)
After the majority of the Senate voted to strip millions of Americans of healthcare coverage, the Senate chaplain ends the session with a prayer ..."Help them to be servants of the people." The people just got screwed.
July marks Medicaid's 75th birthday! 🎂 75 YEARS of keeping millions of Americans alive and financially stable. Meanwhile, the Senate GOP is literally voting to gut it with the deepest cuts in history. The irony is not lost on us. 💀
New rundown of what’s in the OBBB from the @NYT with some editorial from me… spoiler: more 💰for the rich, less for the poor www.nytimes.com/interactive/...
Nearly 1/2 of states are on the brink of a caregiving crisis yet policymakers from those very states are about to vote to gut #Medicaid to give massive tax breaks to the ultra rich... who are these people serving?
So basically he's like "you cannot take away health care from working people but I'm going to vote to taking health care from working people." Make it make sense...
Bread crumbs that would still leave millions without access to healthcare... #Medicaid
#Medicaid expansion covers many people with disabilities not severe enough/incomes not low enough for SSI. It’s for adults with incomes below 138% of poverty line with most below 100%. And none of the severe Senate cuts gutting expansion are reinvested. They’re going to pay for tax cuts for wealthy.
“States are not ready or equipped to implement these work requirements, and that’s going to cause even more harm." @nataliekean.bsky.social of @justiceinaging.org laying down the facts on the reconciliation package moving through the senate www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025... #Medicaid
When your aging parent needs medication, you don't "get over it." When your disabled child needs an aid, you don't "get over it." When you're choosing between rent and medical bills, you don't "get over it" ... we don't get over our need for care. #CareCantWait #ProtectMedicaid
I teamed up with @govmlg.bsky.social to spotlight the vital role #Medicaid plays in supporting family caregivers. We urge the senate to reject deep cuts to the program. Check out our piece in @thehill.com thehill.com/opinion/heal... #ProtectMedicaid #CareCantWait #CaregiverNation
We can’t afford paid leave. We can’t afford elder care. We can’t afford community services. But somehow we always find billions for wars we didn’t ask for. Make it make sense. 🤔
Especially on hard days like today, when Congress inches closer to dismantling #Medicaid, it's important to celebrate those who've shown us how to persevere. Happy 95th birthday to my hero Dolores Huerta! Her warmth, humility, & fierce commitment will always inspire me to keep going. Se si puede!

Facts: Representatives Tim Burchett (R-TN) and Victoria Spartz (R-IN) voted to gut #Medicaid while nearly 1 in 5 of Burchett's constituents and 1 in 4 of Spartz's rely on Medicaid for their healthcare....
What a rough night but grateful to all the advocates who showed up BIG and will continue to show up BIG for Medicaid, SNAP, and the programs working class Americans rely on to make care possible.
I joined @usatoday.com's The Excerpt to talk about men, caregiving, & the importance of policies like #Medicaid, paid leave, & #Medicare to supporting family caregivers. Listen here: art19.com/shows/5-thin... #caregiving #CareCantWait #CaregiverNation
Check out this powerful ABC News piece following care advocates at the Nat'l Alliance for Caregiving's Caregiver Nation Summit as they champion programs like #Medicaid, Older Americans Act, & #Medicare. NEW: VA and NIH join NSF in scouring grants for taboo words like trans and diversity, but also "women" and "Covid." Scientists fear removal of funding is next. By me, with @angusrohan.bsky.social and @owermohle.bsky.social

Let's be clear: $880 billion in #Medicaid cuts and $230 billion in #SNAP cuts will devastate our nation's crumbling care infrastructure. Family caregiving is hard enough - these cuts will destroy essential support systems.
We have a new statement from CBPP President @sharonparrott.bsky.social on Senate Budget Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham’s proposed budget resolution, which presents an opaque and troubling plan with policy trade-offs that are purposely unclear: www.cbpp.org/press/statem...
