This is great news! Here is a detailed look at weekday ridership per trip for Route 107 from Fall 2024. Bars are boardings/alightings per stop, dots are the number of people on the bus. Both are listed by time of day.
Two small dogs on the bus.
Was I expecting to take a train and 6 buses to get home from work today?
No, definitely not.
Am I mad about it?
No, definitely not (except at the Montlake Lid monstrosity).
It’s always fun to explore new routes and neighborhoods in Puget Sound. I even made a few new friends along the way.
Traffic on the Montlake Lid.
The bus I was on finally turned on to Montlake Blvd. 18 minutes after it exited 520, and 10 minutes after it dropped me off.
18 minutes to go 0.3 miles in an HOV lane.
The Montlake Lid is the worst infrastructure project in Seattle since I-5.
It would definitely have been faster to stay on the train, but at least I got to check off another mode:

Metro DART bus 334 near Spring District station.
10/29: King County Metro DART on Route 249
Maybe I should have stayed on the train… the bus is 10 minutes late, so far.
I opted to get off at Spring District and the train departed about a minute later. Time to test out the single bus connection at Spring District station.
Stopped at Spring District and the operator said we are holding here due to the disruption.
Screenshot of Pantograph showing 6 Lynnwood bound trains between Bel-Red and Mercer Island.
Looks like quite a traffic jam
I’m on a standing-room-only 2 Line train towards Lynnwood that just left Bel-Red. The operator has not announced any delays yet.

Have you signed our save Graham Street light rail station petition yet? We need just a few more signatures to get to 800

In response to Sound Transit considering a truncated Ballard Link extension, hundreds of Seattleites marched from Ballard to Smith Cove. “Save Ballard rail, don’t stop short” they shouted along the walk.

100+ people have showed up to tell Sound Transit to build Ballard Link.
I think you are right. It look likes the tentacles retract when the anemone is out of water. Thanks!
A sea creature, that looks like a Chihuly piece, in an abandoned pipe. (If you know what this is, let me know).

Discovered a new side of Seattle today. This city is so cool.

Today is a great day to ride a bike. 🚲
Incorrect wayfinding signs are a growing pain for Seattle’s transit system and should be corrected as soon as possible. Incorrect signs are, at best, confusing and, at worst, a barrier to using transit.

It is incredible that we’ve had three Link extensions in the past year, but we can’t forget the fundamentals as the system grows.
Pre-Downtown Redmond Link system map.
It’s wild that the System Map at Westlake, the busiest Link station, is missing the last three Link extensions.
We just spent $350 for two round trip tickets to Vancouver, BC. It would have been way cheaper to drive and park at the hotel. But like you said, we are doing it for the views and my love of trains (and to avoid the hassle of driving).
Update: someone (maybe Metro) has relabeled the exit letters on the Metro signs at Mercer Island station.
Route 544 map
This is a small sample size, but it seems like ST was spot on with the idea to replace Route 545 with Route 544.
Post-Crosslake Connection Route 545 trip report:
A Redmond-bound AM trip was about half as full as the same trip in March. About 80% of the passengers boarded the bus from one of the stops on Olive Way. All but three people got off the bus at one of the stops near Microsoft (40th St and 51st St).

I’m on a 2 Line train with a parent teaching their kid how to ride it independently. The kid is excited to go to the U District with their friends.
The freedom to travel independently as a kid was fundamental in my own development. I’m thrilled to see kids in the next generation get this freedom.
