I never trust restaurants started by entrepreneurs instead of chefs.

Once “people earning money to pay their bills” became “labor costs” on a spreadsheet we were done as a functioning society.

Why is it usually the trucks with a thin blue line sticker speeding down a residential street making the neighborhood unsafe?

Thank you for this! It was great hearing someone finally talking about how there are 29 teams that don’t win it all and it’s ok to enjoy the team even if we aren’t going to be that 1 that does win.

I’m a recent convert to Eurovision, but I’ve fallen in love with the Super Bowl for theater kids. This was such a fun episode!

For those of you keeping track I’m all about blackberries and Cara Cara oranges right now. I wish I could give you an exact date when this happened but you’ll just have to estimate a date within the last few months.

I miss taking the bus. Where else can I overhear someone tell their friend about T-Shirt Paul who, unsurprisingly, hasn’t had a job in 5 years.

How am I supposed to get any work done when I have hours of NBA playoff reaction podcasts to listen to?

Maybe it’s only good by US standards, but not by world standards?

Talking to people from all over the world at the Travel and Adventure Show here in LA shocked me. Their number one issue was the food they’re eating while here: it was all lower quality than they’re used to and much more expensive. I’m reconsidering how I think of LA as a food city.

It finally happened. A pizza restaurant in Colombia tried to stop us from each ordering our own pizza.

I’ve already had a street vendor here in Cartagena call me “Mucho Blanco” which I assume means King of Portland?

Our top episode continues to be Amanda’s! It makes sense because she was a great guest!

I'd get League Pass if it wasn't so expensive and if the Blazers weren't going to put all the fun players on IRL after the All Star Break. I'm not interested in paying to watch 40 point blow outs. The mentality seems to be now if you aren't trying to win it all you're wasting your time...

I'm not in Portland anymore, so it's hard to watch them now. Games are more exciting lately so I listen on iHeart Radio when I can. Why is that free but the broadcast isn't? Both are supported by ads. If there was a free ad-supported streaming broadcast I'd happily watch it.

Second, why am I going to pay to watch a team that tanks? I'm a Blazers fan and I love my team. The last time I paid to watch them it was an awful game, the second of a back to back where Wemby sat out. I grew up watching them for free on TV, unlike bands where I would buy their record.

Why does it have to be AI type players that get labeled authentic, while KAT type players are labeled corny? Maybe Wemby isn't "sanded down," that's just who he is. Not all players are going to appeal to suburban white boys who love Wu Tang. (Speaking as a suburban white boy who loved Wu Tang).

I want to talk about the latest @ringernba.bsky.social Group Chat episode.

First, on wanting more "authenticity" (a made up concept!) from players -- who are we to decide what is authentic? What's more authentic than a player saying I want to do whatever it takes to make money for my family?

Walking through the Glendale Galleria yesterday I thought about how great it would be if there was a train station in the basement and I realized Japan ruined me.

I keep hearing NBA people talk about how the Emirates Tournament Cup is meaningless — as if sports has any meaning outside of what we give it.

The Guardian won’t post on X anymore — but isn’t deleting its accounts there, at least for now Guardian reporters may still use X for newsgathering, the company said.

The Guardian will no longer post on X. In a note to readers, the publication said X is “a toxic media platform” and “its owner, Elon Musk, has been able to use its influence to shape political discourse.”
