Rook is a scarce winter visitor to Israel. Therefore, it was a pleasure to watch several birds so well as they stole pecan nuts from a nearby plantation and displayed their brilliant iridescent plumage. They're hugely under-rated IMO!

Pleased to find this crisp 1cy Pectoral Sandpiper at Maagan Michael this morning. Not a mega rarity anymore, it is still a good rarity in Israel, just about annual.
I found it during a 10-minute point count while monitoring our restoration project there.
