Even quite a lot of middle class people are one emergency room visit or roof leak from potential financial ruin - and that's not accounting for people for whom the jingoistic propaganda simply worked. Their ad budget is unconscionable and could feed millions.

“Support our troops” is propaganda designed to induce the disenfranchised to fight and kill so they can receive dignity, healthcare, education and housing- things that *everyone* deserves, and things that ironically are provided for very poorly by the military.

I think that if you ever try to send an entirely blank message with "Hello" or "Hi", *especially* in a work context, your message should just fail to send with a "message is functionally useless" error

For me, it was physically getting away from a bad living situation. But that’s not a thing that’s easily changed.

For a very long time, my approach was to survive without hope. Holding on to those things that matter to me, even if my heart doesn't believe there's a better future. I find it easier to argue with my internal prosecutor that whether *I* matter is irrelevant because I *do* things that matter.

My particular flavor of rejection sensitive dysphoria makes me obsessed with whether or not people "really" hate me.

Actual enjoyment is nice, but "actual" is one of those types of ontological truth terms like "good/evil" or "deep down" or "wholeheartedly."

I learned from PTSD therapy that "helpful/useful" are far more actionable terms. >>

Socialism is, genuinely, quite simple in principle.

We should pay people who are doing valuable tasks.

The things they need to do those tasks.

And the things they need to stay safely alive.

Raising crops, raising kids, handling waste— why should anyone have to rely on companies for anything?

Something you can learn from history is that there are dozens of generations of marginalized people who have lived entire lives without hope of reprieve. But generations of survivors dredged ditches, planted trees, paved roads, and overall cultivated a better future they'd not live to see.
