The VW Polo was simply a slightly more basic badge-engineered version of the 1093cc Audi 50, a model introduced in West Germany in 1974 as the replacement for the old rear-engined NSU small car range. Offered in many continental markets, the 50 was never sold in the UK.

Happy Birthday! A fine vintage, look at that selection! (And it’s not that bad, honest. Passed it two-and-a-bit years ago; it’s the next ‘big one’, I’m not looking forward to!)

Lovely pictures both for different reasons. Depth of field in the first one, contrast skies in the second. I like to take the ‘proper’ camera to events and be mindful with its use, but can’t deny that the phone is easier, even with its ‘false’ (ie, punched up) results. #photography

Finding a couple of sets on eBay recently, there was the clue: on the back of two spokes on each rim are the part number and ‘silver’ or ‘grey’. And mine are… grey! At some point, refurbishment. #VW #VWPolo #Volkswagen

For all the time I’ve had my Polo BlueGT (five years this September), I’ve always wondered if the wheels were silver or grey/anthracite (the latter was a no-cost option).
