Man accused of killing Charlie Kirk pushes to ban cameras from court The man accused of killing Charlie Kirk wants a judge to ban cameras from the courtroom and says live broadcasts of the prosecution are violating his right to a fair trial.

I have a lot of thoughts on how difficult/impossible it will be for Robinson to get an impartial jury. But I’m quoted here on camera access: apnews.com/article/tyle...

"Declaring that no quarter will be given" is specifically prohibited by Art 23 of the Annex to the Hague Convention IV, which means it is a war crime under US domestic law by virtue of the War Crimes Act (18 U.S. Code § 2441).

ICE agents reveal daily arrest quotas and surveillance app in rare court testimony Under oath, officers said they were told to make eight arrests a day and given special tech to help choose ‘targets’

When a federal judge (finally) put ICE officers under oath, they admitted that they are given daily detention quotas and rely heavily on a Palantir-supplied AI tool to select targets, without warrants and without enough evidence to obtain one. They simply go into neighborhoods and round people up.

If an official commits an impeachable offense and nobody acts to impeach, it is no longer an impeachable offense.

People who oppose impeachment as “pointless” because it seems unlikely to result in removal do not understand this very simple point and seem unwilling to even try to understand it.

I would love to organize to fix this. It’s going to take buy-in from many people—but we have to start taking our publication process more seriously. It’s embarrassing, quite frankly, how much of a lottery our system is, given the volume of submissions and reliance on unpaid student labor.

On the one hand, the presidency is a fundamentally broken institution.

On the other hand, Congress is a fundamentally broken institution.

On the third hand, the Supreme Court is a fundamentally broken institution.

If you’re an American service member who gets killed in a retaliatory strike, your family can take comfort in the fact that it was done in service of making the host of Celebrity Apprentice feel like a big man for a minute, before he moved on to something else and forgets about this forever

Great to see the new House Oversight Democrats’ report on the schemes behind DOGE's creation, the benefits it offered the billionaire class, and the harms it brought to taxpayers, federal workers, and public services. 🧵

Trump administration declines judge’s request to return college student who was deported over Thanksgiving break - ABC News A federal prosecutor said Friday that government will not return a 19-year-old college student who was deported despite a court order blocking her removal.

That's a weird way of saying "keeps violating court orders," ABC. Just wondering what would happen if a judge told me to do something and I said I "declined the request" 🙃

Please look at this list with me. Since early January, when Immigration and Customs Enforcement expanded its operation in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minn., its officers have: killed Renee Good, a white middle-class mother; menaced a pregnant immigration lawyer in her firm's parking lot; detained numerous U.S. citizens, including one who was dragged out of his house in his underwear; smashed in the windows of cars and detained their occupants, including a U.S. citizen who was on her way to a medical appointment at a traumatic brain injury center; set off crowd-control grenades and a tear gas container next to a car that contained six children, including a 6-month-old; swept an airport, demanding to see people's papers and arresting more than a dozen people who were working there; detained a 5-year-old. And now they have killed another U.S. citizen, Alex Jeffrey Pretti, an I.C.U. nurse with no criminal record. It seems he was white.
The agents had him down on the ground, subdued, before they apparently fired at least 10 shots at point-blank range.

Confronted with a list like this - a deluge like this - we look for details that might explain why these people were subjected to this treatment, details that might reassure us that we, by contrast, are not in danger. Good was married to a woman, and her wife, who is butch, spoke impertinently to an ICE officer, so there, Good wasn't your average white mother after all. ChongLy Thao, the man who was dragged out of his house in his underwear, is an immigrant from Laos; he is not white, and presumably he speaks with an accent. The woman on her way to the medical appointment and the family with six kids drove through areas where anti-ICE protests were taking place. The 5-year-old child's family doesn't have permanent status.
Little is known about Pretti at this writing, but his father said he did participate in protests and he might have been carrying a gun (legally). We don't focus on these details in order to justify the ICE agents' actions, which are plainly brutal and unjustifiable; we do it to force the world to make sense, and to calm our

DHS Shooting Victim in Minneapolis Was a ‘Sweet’ and ‘Principled Person’ Zeteo spoke with two doctors who worked with Alex Pretti, a nurse who is the latest victim of Trump’s violent invasion of Minnesota.

New: Alex Pretti, the man killed by the Trump-Vance mob of agents was an outdoorsmen, a mountain biker, an ICU nurse who "would go out of his way to help," say Veterans Affairs colleagues.

Cheerful. Funny. Gentle.

And still, per sources, Trump officials are urging staff to call him a "terrorist."
