You can't possibly pay for everyone so for the one or two that you choose, you become "their" reader with "their" opinions? How is that not worrying?

The flipside is not reading anyone. That's bleak, but your opinions remain your own. Maybe fresh ideas then shine?

Pretty much every major newspaper or fan media has a premium section or a patreon. Some main stream media outlets don't let you read anything without subscriptions.

If you can afford to pay, then how do you decide who gets your money?

You can still find good, free media - my current favourites are The Guardian and @BTLvid. Substack remains free for some, for a few, but these accounts seem to swim against the tide.

How is this sustainable in a cost of living crisis? It's also completely unregulated!

As we roll into 2025 I find myself wondering about the future accessibility of sports media.

Opinion pieces and indepth articles are harder to find than ever with most locked away behind a paywall.

Even fan media seems to hit a target number then switch to patron.
