Between 2014 and 2016, in the Delhi edition of The Indian Express, the majority of full page ads came from a single pharma company called Torque promoting its various products. Including bizarrely multiple full page ads for a movie called "Dongri ka Raja"

3 months ago 0 0 0 0

Something I noticed while making this.

From The Indian Express frontpage dataset:

From 1933–1994, there were 0 full page ads.
From 2009–2017, 11.57% of front pages had full page ads.
From 2023–2025, that number jumps nearly 4 times to 42.33% of all front pages!!

Put together a little web game from an archive of 13,000+ The Indian Express front pages dating back to 1933.

Can you guess the year from old newspaper headlines? It's a lot tougher to play than I thought, but enjoyed reading so many old front pages!

Cracking The Dave & Buster’s Anomaly | Rambo Codes Gui Rambo writes about his coding and reverse engineering adventures.

This is a very good breakdown of the bug by @inside.bsky.social rambo.codes/posts/2025-0...

The latest Search Engine episode - The Dave & Buster's Anomaly was so Reply All coded.

But The Roman Mars Mazda Virus episode is still my fav investigation. I am surprised PJ didn't mention it even once, considering how similar both bugs were.

Compelled by those atrocious Parle Marie ads, I wrote a tiny browser extension to auto mute certain IPL ads on Hotstar.

It actually works really well and also mutes Vimal, Kamla Pasand, My11, Pokerbaazi etc ads out of the box.

Is there anywhere you can buy Nathan Fielder's laptop harness thing from The Rehearsal for cheap in India?

one of the pet peeves is when a yt video begins with a highlight from later in the video, then jumps back to the beginning. I already clicked play, you don’t have to sell it to me anymore.

I love the SponsorBlock and DeArrow browser add-ons for yt, are there any to skip these intros too?

It wasn't the NYT, but close enough!

(I hope they got a good pay out from The Atlantic for this because it's such a fun game)

Everyone knows what apps you use Until a few years ago, any app you installed on an Android device could see all other apps on your phone without your permission.

Wrote about how everyone knows all the apps you have on your phone, especially all the Indian companies:

Block YouTube Ads on AppleTV by Decrypting and Stripping Ads from Profobuf Apple TV and iOS YouTube ads are not blocked by Pi-hole, so I researched this and discovered a flaw in Protobuf that allows me to restrict YouTube ads.

This is from 2022, but I love elaborate posts like this so much:

Common Side Effects is such a good show. The animation, the characters, the subject, and the whole vibe - looks fantastic and unlike anything i've seen in a long while

The Wirecutter Is Wrong About The Best Plain Potato Chip - Aftermath The Wirecutter has selected the Amazon Fresh brand as their winner for the Best Plain Potato Chip. This is spiritually wrong.

"recommending the Amazon Fresh Classic Potato Chips as the best plain potato chip fundamentally misunderstands the spiritual and practical place of the potato chip"

Love this critic of The Wirecutter's The Best Plain Potato Chip recommendations

in veep S3E4 around the 13:48 mark on hotstar - a very unsettling and weird clip breifly flashes on the screen and then disappears. After that the audio for the entire episode becomes distorted. Can be reproduced on their app/tv/website
