"AI hater" was in quotes not because I don't despise AI, I don't like it and I wish the madness that has gripped the tech industry would go away, but because it's... reductive.

There's many nuanced reasons to my distaste, wrapping it up under the label of hater does a disservice to it.

IDK. I place a lot of value in the process, see The Work as inherently valuable, so that sense of like... mastery over a problem from doing it myself is important to me.

Look upon what I have wrought with my hands and mind, my work, my solution, this problem solved by me. Prideful? Maybe, idk.

Sure, one might get you results faster, but you won't really understand why it works, just that it does.

You have no guarantees on it, and if it breaks then you won't be able to understand why, not how to fix it beyond just fussing around until it magically works again.

Since I'm apparently an "AI Hater" I might as well be more vocal.

Doing a process manually, with an eye for automating it via a script, helps you understand what you're working with on a deeper level than if you threw an LLM at it.
