I voted. Why did you assume it was my anything and not a simple statement of what happened?

You are as disconnected from reality as MAGA, but in a way that makes you lose elections instead of getting your candidate elected. Imaging being angry at people who don't support genocide. That's sick.

You are missing an option. It was D(genocide), R(genocide), or obstain. Lots of people chose not to participate in a system where the only other choice was genocide.

They do, and they are 100% sure it is far, far worse now.

I didn't get picked for the event in a few weeks but I'd be open to discussing carpooling if you want to go.

Here's the thing: Democrats already know who can win. They know which policies are popular with voters and which candidates are vocally in support of those policies. They're going to throw a billion dollars into trying to prevent those candidates from becoming the nominee.

It is stupid when MAGA describes releasing embargoed assets as "paying Iran" and it is also stupid when the other side does it.

Prosecuting and purging the Republican Party was Biden’s one job. When he failed to do his duty it was just a waiting game to this moment.

I'm not mad at Joe Biden because Trump got reelected, I'm mad at Joe Biden because a president attempted a coup and Biden didn't think that was something serious enough to impose consequences for.

How many previous presidents attempted a coup? He literally attempted a coup, you remember that, right? Biden didn't have him arrested, didn't have his co-conspirators in Congress arrested, he just "investigated" them until Trump was president again. Total, absolute failure to protect the country.

By "prosecting Trump" you mean 4 years after he attempted a coup Trump was still walking around a free man? Come on man, pretending Biden was doing anything to contain Trump is some serious malarkey.

I think the opposition party widely expected to make historic gains in the next election(s) has an obligation to explain how they'll stop this and prevent it from happening again or it's reasonable to conclude they don't plan on doing those things, which raises more uncomfortable questions

When I bought a 150 year old house, I also bought a hammer (and a whole bunch of other tools because a 150 year old house needs a lot of love).

My patient would rather take a peptide than a statin. That reveals an uncomfortable truth in medicine “The volume of evidence behind a therapy has become inversely correlated with public trust in it,” writes Vikas Patel.

The word "peptide" has a sexy vibe to it. According to Biochemistry 101, a peptide is a bunch of amino acids strung together, held together by peptide bonds. We are built of peptides.

Anecdotes found on social media forums are more convincing than dry scientific evidence.

It seems very weird that you put the blame for that on people opposing genocide instead of people committing genocide. If Harris had promised to end the genocide she would have gotten more votes, instead she let a monster like Trump outflank her on the issue.

2 weeks ago 0 0 0 0

There what is? Biden committed genocide. Harris promised to continue the genocide. (She also promised to be tougher on Iran and the border.) Those positions, by the Democrats' own post mortem, cost her the election. I think it is hard to argue those positions were not a tactical failure.

2 weeks ago 0 0 1 0

It would have been a negative good, because it would have been good to negate this outcome. I don't get why you keep talking to me like I didn't want Harris to win, I very much wish she had.

2 weeks ago 0 0 1 0

No matter how correct your moral argument is, it is a tactical failure. Moral purity is not something worth risking an election on, so Democrats need a candidate and campaign that maximizes turnout.

2 weeks ago 0 0 1 0

I think I see the problem. You are making a moral argument: "People should have accepted genocide to stop Trump."

I am making a pragmatic argument: "A campaign that refused to positively affirm the desires of the base failed because affirmation drives turnout."

Both of those things can be true.

So, again, I voted.

People who were "hung up" on a campaign that targeted moderate Republicans instead of progressive Dems weren't going to vote for Harris, and they didn't, and she lost. Since that plan failed, I don't think demanding people go along with it next time is a good strategy.

2 weeks ago 1 0 1 0

You had an election where Republicans affirmed the desires of their base and they showed up, and Democrats actively rebuked the desires of their base and a lot stayed home. It doesn't matter if you and I think a vote of negation is enough, lots of people don't and you can't win without them.

2 weeks ago 0 0 1 0

No, it wasn't. It was something to vote against, which is a negative. (I mean positive in the sense of an affirmative good, not merely negating a worse outcome.)

You don't need to apologize to me, I voted as I always do. Even though I voted, millions of 2020 Biden voters didn't show up.

And who you actually do need to inspire are the idealist who will volunteer for you and phone bank and knock on doors. At least half the foot soldiers who could have helped with Harris GOTV efforts were told they weren't welcome and Cheney Rs would make up the difference.

2 weeks ago 0 1 1 0

It got an energized Republican base turning out at a higher rate than a demoralized Democratic one.

I'm not sure inspired is the right word, but you at least have to give people something positive to vote for if you want them to deal with the inconvenience of voting for you.

Honestly, I think they feel inspired when he talks about minorities eating pets. "Here is a candidate who is finally willing to tell the truth about Those People and do something about it, I gotta vote for this guy."

Republicans succeed because their messaging animates their white supremacist base.
