Oh! I love the little silver flower ring. After you get back and feel better, let me know how much and what size? Thanks!

I watched the Manosphere documentary on Netflix, and that was my biggest takeaway -- like, not a single one of them seems happy, ever. They're continually "on" as they present this persona that is always on display, and as a result there's no inner life, just exhaustion and fear being squashed down.
Halfway back across PA and I’ve hit the “nothing at these restaurants stops looks like food” portion of the journey.
All hail the indifferent, expensive, but woefully convenient hotel breakfast.
A wonderful 38ft mural of the late great KURT VONNEGUT - who left us 19yrs ago today - in his hometown of Indianapolis.
My body seems to delight in not listening to me. Here is is, 2:30 in the morning. I've been trying to sleep since 11. I have now given that up and am going to teach my body an object lesson -- if you're going to refuse to sleep, you get to grade. We both have to suffer, but that's what you get.
I have graded two papers this evening after a day of conferencing, and I think that's pretty darn good all things considered. I get a break, and then maybe a couple more before I fall over.
As a Gen X parent, I kept my kids teeth in a couple of old pill bottles in a drawer in case anyone ever needed a DNA sample. Now that I actually write this out, of course, I am at something of a loss to think how this sounded reasonable at the time.
But shall this crazed old man be tamely suffered to drag a whole ship’s company down to doom with him?
So not that this is super big news, but I have ASECS coming up next week and I'm really excited. I don't have a paper this year, but I am hosting a roundtable on Thursday morning and this entire thing is the highlight of my professional year. ASECS is where my people are. I can't wait.
Doctorate in 18th-century Brit Lit and Composition. I can't save your life, but I can tell you why what you read matters AND how to write your own freaking email.
Post a gif of who you wanted to be as a kid
Lorre is one of my classmates from high school. She and her family are struggling right now. She's been diagnosed with Stage 4 non-Hodgkins lymphoma. Her husband has health issues, one of their children has Down's Syndrome, and she's the rock of the family. Donate and/or share? gofund.me/4d9605d84
Apparently a sonic boom from a meteor? Crazy.
Yeah, it was really weird.
The thing that is bringing me joy today is that my dog, Noodle, likes to sleep with his back left foot on my lap as I sit on the couch. This means more when you know that Noodle had his right front leg amputated as a puppy (before we got him) and thus he is very protective of his feet. I'm honored.
Thank you! This is basically our yearly friendsgiving kind of thing, so I'm super into ideas. We have dinner early before the show starts, but it's set out buffet style so people graze through the evening.
You could do catfish sliders for Sinners to stay with finger foods. And like cookies with sugared flowers or lavender and rosemary for Hamnet.
Oh, and Train Dreams gets roasted venison with a blackberry red-wine reduction.
Hamnet gets an herb salad with edible flowers, Sentimental value gets a Norwegian roasted potato, corn, and bacon salad, Marty Supreme gets onigiri, half stuffed with lox and half with umiboshi. Frankenstein gets vanilla panna cotta with roasted peach slices, and Bugonia gets strufoli.
We do one cocktail, just because. :)
those are SO GOOD.
There's a roast beef and horseradish for the UK race, a sundried tomato and basil for the Italy race, and a za'taar, date, and goat cheese one for the Abu Dhabi race.
So we are doing coxhinas for Secret Agent, and we ended up planning some various pinwheel sandwiches inspired by the different races in F1. Fried catfish for Sinners is a given, as is the French 75 cocktail/mocktail for One Battle After Another.
YES. Basic parameters? Ours is one dish for each best picture nominee.
The regime wants this picture memory-holed; it would be a terrible shame if it went viral instead.
My oldest son told me yesterday that his philosophy is that if you find some happiness in life and do your best to pass it on, then you're doing your best and you've succeeded at living. Personally, I'm astounded that anyone I raised can be that brilliant. #ProudMom
