I also have a large pile of books waiting to be read. If you don't contribute to WordPress, you have more time to read. For me, Matt has already pulled the plug by claiming that “WordPress.org belongs just to him”.

I'm stunned how easy it is to fix and enhance code. Nonces are e.g. no big deal. With Cascade, the chat-box of Windsurf: "Add nonce verification and sanitize the global variable", it starts "thinking" for a couple seconds, repeats the question, provides code and explains, what it is good for. Done.

It depends. 🤓 Many (not you) aren't aware that using a SMTP account _with another domain_ ("Hey, I have Gmail!") may be seen as a phishing attempt.

As many email providers check DKIM/SPF, wouldn't it be better to set a _registered_ e-mail address instead of wordpress@example.com?
Why does your function start with wp_ and by this suggests, it's a core function?

Dass das ethisch alles schwierig ist, weil jemand mit einer negativen SCHUFA-Auskunft gesellschaftlich ausgegrenzt wird, ist ein anderes Thema (und für mich damals Grund genug, in der Bank nichts mit Krediten zu tun haben zu wollen).
Negative Auskunft kommt aber nicht von alleine.

Die Frage, ob z.B. für die Anmietung einer Wohnung eine SCHUFA-Auskunft nötig ist, kann man sicher diskutieren. Obwohl sich auch ein Vermieter nicht von Mitnomaden abziehen lassen möchte.

Ist dann übrigens auch für den Bankmitarbeiter nicht schön, aber immer noch besser, als sich abziehen zu lassen.

Wir haben die SCHUFA damals genutzt, um faule Kredite angezeigt zu bekommen.
„Wenn der Schuldner zum Termin zur Abgabe der Vermögensauskunft unentschuldigt fern leibt oder die Abgabe ohne Grund verweigert, kann ein Haftbefehl beantragt werden.“ Steht dann in der SCHUFA-Auskunft.
