In my lab days that was your 1st task: learning how to spot before you ever got to process / print anything. Some folks were amazing at it. Understanding spotting got me a job in early photoshop days too

You know what else new analogue photogs don't understand is part of the experience?
Learning to how to (physically) spot a print or even a negative with dyes and a brush.

I found the 45mm one in Japan for my RB, they only wanted $15 for it. It's a fun tool to have.
