At the April 1955 Bandung Conference, Chinese Prime Minister Zhou Enlai took a moderate stance, easing fears among some anticommunist delegates. A decade later, China and Indonesia pushed for a second Asian-African conference, but India, Yugoslavia, and Egypt organized rival nonaligned meetings.
