New Campaign Mode piece for the weekend. Obviously, no one wants to launch a game next to Grand Theft Auto 6, but what if it slips? A small bit of insight into the headaches and planning going on as the gaming industry holds its breath and waits.

An Aztec army, with various warriors and myth units next to two giants and a Titan, surrounded by various Aztec buildings and a jungle.
I've recently been playing Obsidian Mirror, the new Aztec-themed expansion for Age of Mythology: Retold. It's a lot of fun so far, and I'll have more to share next week on Campaign Mode (it'll be out then instead of now for reasons that will become obvious).
I've been getting some invites, so I guess now is the time to mention here that I am attending Summer Game Fest for Campaign Mode!
If you're working on a game you'd like me to see at SGF, you have an interesting story you want told, or you just want to talk, let's chat!
I always love talking with CJ but this was a fantastic discussion. It's cool to see where we're both at right now with stuff like science-fiction and examine the "why" of that wavelength.
With the popular knapsack? And its many different locations??
Derek Van Dyke has been slandering, harassing, and traumatizing me for a year and I am done living in fear and being silent about it. I am going to give the narcist his attention, but after this I am never talking about this again.
Key art for Bungie's Marathon (2026), showing a close-up of a Runner, another Runner blocking gunfire with a shield, and a Compiler enemy.
Key art for Bethesda Game Studios' Starfield: Terran Armada expansion, showing a robot wielding a rifle in front of a planet.
A hand holding a copy of the book Leviathan Wakes, with pictures of starships and an asteroid on the cover.
Continuing to play Marathon, diving into Starfield's expansion + update, and finally starting to read Leviathan Wakes (yeah, I know, FINALLY). Trying to take in as much sci-fi as possible right now.
Heck yeah, Artemis.
We may have not won that last fight, but we made them miserable with free kits, and that counts.
Bart Simpson baring a brutish underbite, not unlike an English Bulldog.
That'll play
Sharing this again for the Sunday crowd! Been a long time since a multiplayer game has resonated on an emotional level for me like Marathon is.
New piece for Campaign Mode! Some thoughts on Marathon, a game I've been playing regularly since it launched a few weeks ago. The struggle of the Runners to find better gear has struck a special chord with me as a freelance writer.
I can't stop running.

Yesssss, welcome!

Chag Pesach Sameach!
(Happy Passover, y'all)
First (non-announcement) post for Campaign Mode is here! I'm a huge fan of Total War, so I'm going over a wishlist of things I'd like to see Creative Assembly focus on with Total War: Warhammer 40,000 and the much further-out Total War: Medieval 3.

That doesn't mean I'll only be discussing RTS titles though. In fact, I'm currently writing some thoughts on Marathon.
I went through a few different names, but ultimately, I wanted to focus on what got me into playing games in the first. Strategy games, or more specifically, the campaign modes included in them. Attila and Barbarossa, Kerrigan and Zeratul. That's what shaped my tastes.
When I was let go back at the start of the year, I was dealing with some burnout. Combined with personal issues and watching extremely talented peers also being cut left and right, it took a while to figure out what I wanted to do. In ways, that's still going on. But I'm not leaving this space.

The official art for Campaign Mode was designed by my friend @rrspear.bsky.social. She's a talented editor, writer, and artist. You should hire her!
This has taken far longer than I wanted, but I'm happy to announce Campaign Mode! This is a website and newsletter owned by me, where I'll be talking about video games, gaming industry trends, and more.
If you're interested, please subscribe so you can be notified when I send out a new post!
Happy birthday Brian!
Former PlayStation Studios chairman Shawn Layden, former Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer, and former Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aimé, back when they all stood together at The Game Awards.
And that's number three. Whatever else can/should/will be said, it's officially the end of an era.
Goes without saying for today as well, evidently.
Wow.
I'm still putting together my personal work plans, but it goes without saying that if anyone at Bluepoint/PlayStation wants to chat, I can be reached via Signal and guarantee anonymity.
Unfathomable. Bluepoint was one of the best remake-focused studios ever. RIP.
