The conda steering council recently approved a set of CEPs (conda enhancement proposals) that effectively standardize the conda ecosystem. This is a big milestone worth celebrating! 🎉

Recent highlights + what we’re building next:
⚡ sharded repodata (beta) for much faster metadata fetching
🧰 a safer way to install PyPI packages in conda envs
🔒 native lockfiles support in progress
New article alert! 🌟 "Why Package Installs Are Slow (And How to Fix It)" explains how sharded repodata (CEP-16) delivers 10x faster installs and 90% less bandwidth for conda and Pixi on conda-forge: buff.ly/Zhj0Yxd
Congratulations to our friends at Anaconda for shipping CEP-16 (sharded repodata). If you use conda-forge from anaconda.org servers, pixi & rattler-build got magically a lot faster!

This work brings CEP 16 to conda and shows what collaboration across the community can achieve.
Huge thanks to @conda-forge.org, @prefix.dev @quansight.com @quantstack.bsky.social and @anacondainc.bsky.social for making this possible. ❤️
As part of this beta, shards, which were already available in the prefix.dev channels, are now served by anaconda.org for @conda-forge.org channel.
✦ Conda users can now opt in to see 10x speedups when using conda-forge.
✦ Pixi and rattler-build already support this, so they benefit immediately!
Anaconda.org and conda adopt sharded repodata! 🚀
CEP 16, introduced by @prefix.dev, splits the massive repodata files into per-project shards. This allows clients to only fetch what they need, resulting in significant speedups!

Conda ≠ PyPI
Conda isn’t just another Python package manager-it’s a multi-language, user-space distribution system.
In this 3-part series, we explore the fundamental differences between conda and PyPI.

Today we celebrate the 10th anniversary of conda-forge!
Our beloved Github organization was created around this time on Apr 11th, 2015.

I wrote a new blog post about using `conda` without any kind of shell modifications.
Just the Python entry point directly. No ~/.bashrc or Windows registry edits! Simply one more entry in PATH.
