It’s an interesting point. I always feel like in modern football it’s a bit idealistic to think you can have a successful team built around young, academy players… but in a lot of ways I think that’s been the key to Sunderland’s tenacious spirit the last couple of years.

The most depressing thing about Sunderland yesterday… Regis Le Bris has got them promoted after one year in charge, with no significant investment. Whereas we’re three years into a managerial process- and it feels like we’re just getting further away from it being our turn to celebrate #UTB #boro

You’re probably right. I feel like i still love the idea of what Michael Carrick success would look like (the silky football, goals on tap, his calm persona). But he has had a long time and just can’t seem to make it work with the resources we have.

I’ve no belief we can get a win at Coventry, given we’ve just been unable to beat 2 bang average teams with nothing to play for.

Our season died in the January window, with the Doak injury being the nail in the coffin.
