In addition to the whole changing a person, I was also unable to rehire the artist from back then. So that was also a major factor.
Our current artist is a fashion design graduate so it was a no-brainer to let her change up the character designs.
It was a whole bunch of things honestly. The first was that the project got put on a 2.5-year long hiatus due to a massive lack of funding, so I had to put my head down and get that in order.
So when I got back to it, I'd changed quite a bit as a writer, and so did the narrative.

when we started Keepers, the cast looked like this. bright, cozy, very "hang out with these people."
then the story got darker. the world got weirder. the art caught up.
