A fascinating Q&A session with @orwellprize.bsky.social at Islay High School yesterday! It was fantastic to see how engaged the students were, with many excellent questions.
The Orwell Foundation, Islay High School and Islay Book Festival invite you to the launch of the Orwell Youth Prize 2026 on Tuesday 28 October at 1.45pm at the High School Assembly Hall.
Free admission, and books will be available to purchase at the event.
Many attendees at this year’s Islay Book Festival event with Jen Stout were gripped by Jen’s recounting of her experiences in Ukraine, and of the bravery and strength of Ukrainians in the face of relentless attacks by Russian forces.

The first events of Islay Book Festival 2025 took place yesterday in the historic Round Church in Bowmore.
Talks with Peter Mackay and Hamza Yassin were thoroughly enjoyed by all. 📚
Catch IBF guest author Pam Brunton on BBC Radio 4's Food Programme this morning at 11am!
Pam will be joining us on Sunday for a sold out event at Lochindaal Seafood Kitchen.
Due to adverse weather forecast for Saturday afternoon, Fun in the Woods with Hamza Yassin will now take place at 10am as opposed to 2pm as previously advertised.
