My grandfather grew up in Coleman during the depression. I wish he was still here to ask him if he remembers this. I wonder if it shaped him at all. Family stories of sharing with out of work men who rode the rails brought to mind.

Not that our system is perfect, but it certainly isn’t as, ahem, profitable, as it appears to be for politicians in the US.

Over decades, we’ve had more than one, but it’s exceedingly rare. Tumbler Ridge shook us this year.
We do lockdown drills in schools, but not active shooter drills. Just pull kids in from halls, turn out lights, close blinds and close (permanently locked) doors.

Here’s to being happier on your own and never settling for anything less than a kind, caring, and, equal partnership.
