i don't get why they kept bragging about it. startup gives equity to their employees? Okay - very normal, run of the mill, boring thing to do!!!

Watched Project Hail Mary a second time tonight. Somehow even better than the first time.

In contrast with The Drama which I came away a lot more impressed the first time than when I rewatched it yesterday.

2026 is the time for hopecore movies.

Made a better movie listings site for the chain i have membership for, because they make it hard to see all the times at once!

It's dense, shows all times for multiple movies and branches all at once. Just for me, but technically open source for other uk cinema nerds github.com/joshhunt/eve...

A ★★★★★ review of Babe: Pig in the City (1998) My human tied me in a bag and threw me in the water.  The most inscrutable, inexplicable movie. A bizarre, fantastical, absurdist fever dream. At first I thought it was strange and funny that Babe cam...

Perfect letterboxd moment. You watch a masterpiece. See it averages 3 stars. Everyone you follow gave it 5/5.

Every other day I have an existential crisis about what this technology means for my industry. I think there's many more interesting things to talk about for this tech than "where's the ai iphone" or "these execs are over-hyping their product again".

I think Consumers do like ChatGPT. In fact, I think they probably like and trust it too much! ChatGPT being a successful* consumer product is what lead to 'enterprises' adopting it and paying for it for all their staff.

*For varying values of 'successful', including not making money

Maybe the consumer is slightly irrational or inconsistent? I think its possible to express a dislike of vague generic "AI", but like and find value in specific instances like ChatGPT.

I've had a friend say to me "fuck AI!" but then in the next breath mention using Gemini to help them write a letter

What if there really is no "great consumer AI product", but a lot of businesses manage to find a tremendous amount of value in it, enough to support current valuations?

Three months ago I was sceptical of this until I saw Claude/Code be adopted aggressively into non-engineering roles at my company

Boy was i surprised when I went down to a popular seaside town and found what they call a beach to be more like a quarry.

Don Cheadle coaching Julia Roberts on her Julia Roberts accent in Ocean’s Twelve is a diabolical level of metatextuality.

I greatly prefer the VS Code UI for reviewing changes from the LLM, but find Claude Code to be 'smarter'.

VS Code's new Chat UI supposedly supports Claude (Code?), but found it to be fairly buggy in the past...

It is a very, very weird time to be a software developer and anybody who tells you they know where this is going is deluded. We have shaken the kaleidoscope as hard as we can and the pattern it will land in is a total unknown.

i REALLY want to see the figma designs and slack threads where they rationalised that 'Verified' check next to the names. Is there any charitable interpretation of that design choice??

i don't even know these nerds, but they're right. ive been denying this part of myself

Ask any developer and they'll probably say that reading and reviewing code is not their favourite part of the job. What happens when you make that the *only* part?

What does it mean if i can throw every random idle thought at an LLM and have it churn away on it in the background, at practically zero cost to you?

There's a big attractive nuisance here - here's 9 different tasks I have in flight at the moment. Most I will not pick back up!!!

I think there's so many other second/third order effects of agentic AI coding tools that have barely been explored.

What does it mean to 'increase your productivity' 50% as a developer? I can barely keep up with code review as it is!

You know something I’ve been paying attention to recently is that all the hyperbolic hype is always about solo dev stories.

Really not seeing much thought leadership out there about what it means to use these tools in teams!

its easy to announce something. apple did it years ago!

lets see if it actually ships, and does the thing they say it does 😉
