Currently rehearsing for Notts TV’s final ever full length news show.

We’re live across Nottinghamshire on Freeview channel 7 from 17:30, and on demand from just after 18:30.

Proud to be directing this final full programme.

Haven’t posted in a little while, I’ve been busy with a big editing backlog and had some time off ill.

But I’m now back in the big seat, directing the news live on Notts TV in just a few minutes time! 😀

Plus we caught up with the team at Kettering’s Lighthouse Theatre to watch KD Theatre’s absolutely fantastic pantomime one last time.

A very productive weekend I reckon… now to kickback and enjoy the new years celebrations! See you in 2025! 🎆

Alongside this, Charlie Stone and I got Studio B up and running ahead of @northants2.co.uk launching in February and we redecorated our lobby to create a much more welcoming space!

On Sunday we ran an end of year meeting and training session, marking the highest performing year for NN Media and @northants1.co.uk to date.

Craig Pattison very generously came along to support a handful of our team with some presenter coaching and a workshop in our Studio A.

Little Christmas gift to myself… just finished building a new workstation pc for my studio! Of course it’s rack mounted, and paired with a line interactive UPS… plus the ram does pretty colours 🤣

Was a lot of fun to build a pc for the first time in a while!

Yesterday I was out on my final outside broadcast of the year with High Peak 1, this time in New Mills.

I did all the techy bits to get the station on air from the Torr Vale Tap :)

Jack and the Beanstalk, stage set and waiting for show to start

Last night I went along to the Core at Corby Cube to watch Little Wolf Entertainment’s production of Jack and the Beanstalk! Had really high expectations after seeing many Little Wolf productions in Derby, and needless to say their panto magic translated brilliantly to the smaller stage!

Over at Nottingham Trent university yesterday and today running the room monitors and graduation livestream.

Operating 3 Panasonic PTZ’s, a BMD Atem and vMix for VT’s - tied together with companion and streamed by a slice encoder.

It was a bit of a hectic show behind the scenes yesterday, but this adorable moment when Hugo looked down camera 2 and introduced the next item was brilliant!

Given the delayed Spotify Wrapped yesterday, Northants 1 from NN Media finally shared ours on Facebook and Instagram earlier today, with the five biggest songs on the station this year, plus some fun stats about listenership!

Whilst obviously it would be lovely if everything just worked… there is something rather fun about those ‘just gotta make it work’ moment we come across in broadcast!

Was about to walk out of work earlier when I spotted someone I work with running around with only 15 mins to live… the presenter wireless IEM’s had stopped working!

I jumped in helped sort a quick wired solution and stood by in the studio to help bridge the gap from the gallery to Al the presenter.

I player a critical role in building additional gallery spaces for this programme. Pic 1 = Sound | 2 = Gameplay Mix Gallery (& videowall) | 3 = PTZ & racking (where during the show I racked 17 of the 19 cameras used on the show)

This was a fab prod to work on!

This is cool - I had a major involvement with getting ‘Game On! For BBC Children In Need’ on air last year, and last night the programme won its second award! Brill news!

Can’t believe it’s now over six years since I stood on a flight case and pointed a camera at Jools Holland in Sheffield City Hall - this was probably the third ‘pro’ broadcast I’d worked on at this point… and 6 years later I’m still doing what I love!

A bit of (nearly) everything on todays show at work - spot of camera operating for the headlines with @markdennison.bsky.social in the studio, some PTZ operating during chats - on the fly fixes, dealing with processing the VOD and some scheduling stuff - home time now!

After a week at work, with racks of gear… what better way to unwind ahead of the weekend… than coming home and continuing to work on my own rack this Friday evening 🤣🤣

And thanks to a delayed RX today… a very quick turnaround for the studio was needed ahead of Notts Today (local news programme) - which today also needed some lines setting up for a music performance at the end of the show.

That’s on air from 17:30 - but I’m going home now 😴

Brill day today - was in Notts to direct and vision mix today’s episode of Team Talk for Notts TV.

It airs this evening from 8pm on Freeview 7 in Nottinghamshire.

Works a treat - especially for these studios which are used by non-technical volunteers :)
