I remember Capcom promoting this initiative of making 5(?) big GameCube exclusive titles as the time and basically all of them ended up on PS2 anyway.

This was by the Starbreeze folks. You can still get the demo executable from here:

As far as 90s eurojank with lyrics go I was always partial to this one. Hidden Norwegian synthpop banger.

Drumloop destruction. It's just fun having a lot of different levers to pull aggressively and then hearing how it all interacts with the cushioning effect of the analog tape and clipping simulation at the end of the post-processing chain.

Credit goes to garx who posted the find on WhoSampled last week:

One of the oldest most elusive sample mysteries, the stab from Spectrum - Brazil (1990) was finally sourced recently by garx. It's from a 1972 recording of God Save The Queen (from the L channel specifically), which ended up a staple sound in dance music re-sampled from Brazil many times afterwards.

Finance and MBAs usurping entire industries never really seemed to take hold in the corporate culture to the same extent it has in the west since the 70s.

The 80s Lynch Dune score by Toto is one of my all time favorites. Excellent example of composing for a desert setting without invoking the typical orientalist tropes. The moment I heard that Zimmer was doing the new one, I got my bingo card out.

I'm surprised his behavior isn't widely known even after all these years of it being out there. He also loves to spend time condescending people online who use cheap or free sample libraries.

Embracer is Swedish. Sweden is also the most neoliberalized out of all the nordic countries, with predictable results.

Phasing out sugar for sweeteners in soda brands has become even more pervasive since then but at this point I just stopped drinking soda entirely. Don't miss it at all. It's worse though when I also have to be vigilant of that stuff in yogurt or health products like cough medicine.

They started quietly mixing sweeteners into regular non-diet Pepsi here a couple of years ago and for a while I was having problems with stomach aches and really vile gases until I noticed the pattern and read the label on the bottle. My stomach can't handle artificial sweeteners at all.

Just wish there was a way to play it in genuine 60 FPS. Kinda surprised the hacking or fangame community hasn't done anything significant with Spinball.

Noctilucent Clouds [Y2K Atmospheric DnB Jungle]
Noctilucent Clouds [Y2K Atmospheric DnB Jungle] YouTube video by Savaged Regime

Yes here it is. I also couldn't make it seamlessly loop, in spite of using integer multiples for the transform keyframes on the clouds and whatnot. I "solved" it by rendering 2 camera passes from different angles and just perpetually crossfaded between them later.

I worked with Bryce 7 last year and rendering a short animated scene at like 20 seconds at 15 FPS with era appropriate resolution still took around 40-50 minutes or so.

I have very fond memories of the original which enticed me to maybe purchase the new one, but the particular mechanics they went with to set it apart does seem rather niche and potentially divisive which makes me unsure whether I'm gonna like it.

Playing Chasm. Good little Metroidvania. Save scummed going to the wheel of fortune room until it gave me a stat boost. Then I was promptly served karmic justice by having the game crash before I managed to save again.

Link didn't work but found the article anyway. Honestly raises as many questions as it answers. The way the lines are blurred between Malibu and Interactive Designs really makes my head spin. I also assumed these people were involved with X-Men but cant find any mention on either company at smspower
