Ultimately, a December 1 drop dead date on the 34-man roster is just entirely too late for the student athlete. Really curious to see which leagues move that date up internally. Some prominent coaches actually wanted the 34-man roster set at the start of the fall.
The expectation is that instituting 'Fall Roster Limits' will be discussed and more by the
ABCA soon. For instance, you could see a the roster limit on the first day of fall workouts be 40 (and no more), and then 34 by December 1. Stay tuned.
📣SCOOP: The 'A4' Conferences have agreed on a general framework for the 34-man roster declaration in @ncaabaseball.bsky.social --> December 1. It could differ for some other sports. Conferences will have the right to make the declaration an earlier date, so more decisions coming.
