If there’s one thing I’ve learned by driving more than 750 mi. (1200 km) through 7 states in one day, it’s that colonizers were lazy namers. How many Derrys, Jamestowns, and Middleburys do we need?
Not to mention, these places on unceded indigenous land probably already had names.

I’ve been trying to balance being informed with my mental health & feeling guilty when I step away from media. I just read this & it helped me reframe.
A rectangular piece of brown canvas fabric that has been cut with pinking shears. On the fabric are 6 light blue French knots, each surrounded by a circular area of yellow running stitches.
Making these patches for future mending project is helping keep my hands busy and my mind calm(er).
