if you only buy indie games that have been vetted by 1k+ reviews you go to super hell. spend 5 dollars on a game that looks neat and has 10 reviews.
Thank you for playing it! :D
Not a lot of progress (or at least not visually). Refactored the items system so the UI syncs better with the save system, to allow the player to use items in combat, etc. So you can throw a bomb (*pending animation*) to a skeleton now.

I've always found it a bit lazy unless there's a twist: an empowered version with some new mechanics, two bosses at the same time, or something else. I find it's also good when a boss becomes a regular enemy.
The XBox game bar captured the audio too (it's this song: lostintheforest.bandcamp.com/track/an-une...)
Finished a small prototype to test some mechanics. It was ok, so I'm planning on keep working on it to have a demo I can publish.
I've been doing more backend stuff. Started building an item system and synced it with the save system. Nothing groundbreaking, but it's something!

TL;DR we used gen AI content on 'The Nameless City' as an artistic choice, but we've removed it because of all the damage the technology is doing. A bit more info here: store.steampowered.com/news/app/298...

We did what we had to do!
The game it's a narrative-driven first person horror adventure inspired by Lovecraft short novel. And it's also available on itch: paradnight-studio.itch.io/the-nameless...

Transition for loading new levels in the #Playdate game.
The native Playdate class doesn't have a way to revert an animation out of the box, so probably I'll just code a custom one later, as I don't want to duplicate the fade in and fade out transitions.

I want to be alone and use my visor to scan stuff, thanks.
I don't know who played Metroid Prime and thought 'Hmm, what this game needs is an annoying NPC who gives you advice on how to solve puzzles and kill enemies!'.
Programming some systems for the #Playdate game. It can save some variables in one scene (the player fell from the bridge) and read them on another scene (if the player fell, the enemies attack immediately). With this I can create more interesting levels.

I want to create some test levels and mechanics for a proof of concept. Still some work to do for doing that, but not that much.
But before that I need to improve the performance in the real hardware, as loading levels makes the FPS go down to 15 🫠
Worked a bit more on the #Playdate game this week. Loading new levels, harming the player on the 'exploration' mode, etc.

Searching a tool for doing the maps took me quite some time too. I tried LDtk and it was cool, but I wanted each map to have different layers, and on LDtk the layers are global.
Then I moved to Tiled. This one worked better for the game as each map has its own layers.
I haven't posted in a while! I've been doing some code for an 'exploration' mode of the #Playdate game.
Doing the door sprite took me more time than it should, as it's a placeholder. But doing pixel art is fun.
There's also VSCodium, a VSCode version without Microsoft's telemetry.
CARIMARA: BENEATH THE FORLORN LIMBS IS OUT NOW ON STEAM
a short horror story about ghosts, goblins and polite anxiety of asking too much.
untangle the mysteries of a "ghost problem" haunting this unwelcoming, desolate house. even if it means digging up uncomfortable truths.
