That would be…nerve-wracking. 😬

Nothing worse than needing rest badly and not being able to get enough. Hope you recover anyway…
All adults and some children on ICE flights—some 50 flights a day now—are shackled at the wrists and ankles attached to a chain around their waists.
I have spoken to migrants and their attorneys who report being shackled for 50, 75, and 82 hours while being deported. Flight data backs this up.
I’m at Canada’s Drug Agency Symposium in Ottawa today.
We just kicked off with a panel on what’s coming for pharmaceutical policy and health systems. Pretty clear an emerging issue is going to be the US Most Favored Nation policy.
After living in Vancouver Island for about 5 years, I mentioned I’d never seen a cougar. A friend replied, “Well rest assured, a cougar has seen YOU.” 😳
Munros is a great bookstore too!
PM Carney on the Americans calling the alcohol ban an irritant: "You know what's an irritant? 50% tariffs on steel. 50% tariffs on aluminum. 25% tariffs on automobiles. All the tariffs on forest products. Those are more than irritants, those are violations of our trade deal."
Dave Mason, who co-founded the band Traffic and wrote “Feelin’ Alright?” and other classic-rock staples, has died at 79.
Canada didn’t toss this law into the books. It came after years of public and expert input and that input is still subject to amendments needed to protect people from misuse.
Further, to assume those with disabilities are incapable of making informed decisions is an insult. They should have the same rights as others, with appropriate safeguards.
Yes, there needs to be safeguards and we need to continue to keep a watchful eye. But to deny the hundreds of people who are truly suffering from making their own choice *in case* the law is abused in the future is cruelty.
I myself have Ankylosing Spondylitis and a lung condition. And am not just family but am the caretaker for two relatives now and was for my brother until his death. To say I act from privilege is presumptive. Had I seen evidence of widespread abuse in the program, I’d have called it out.
The report is from 5 years ago. Additional safeguards were put in place. Again, please read the most recent annual report. It not only gives the stats but shows the law is still being considered for more safeguards.

I have disabled and neurodivergent members in my family. Legislation was not dismantled. Canada’s Supreme Court - not govt - rule it myst be changed it to include those without foreseeable death. Government’s only change was to delay implementation of eligibility for intractable mental illnesses.
Actually, the potential date for mental illness eligibility was pushed out in 2024. If approved, it won’t be available until March 2027. So it’s not being pushed heavily; it was delayed to allow for input.
Hearsay is not evidence.
My husband chose MAiD as a result of terminal cancer. He was never offered it. He asked for it. It required two doctors and interviews to be sure he understood he could get palliative/hospice care in hospital or at home instead. He had to restate he wanted it right before the procedure too.
Doctors are required to inform patients of all their medical options so will include MAiD on that list *if you meet eligibility requirements.* Being disabled does not make you eligible. Your condition must, among others things, mean you are in an advanced state of irreversible decline.
Well the statistics don’t support that that is happening. One doctor can’t approve MAiD. You need two. And you have to profess repeatedly that you are choosing MAiD and why.
No one in Canada has accessed MAiD for autism. They are not eligible.
MAiD is not offered to people based on disability/poverty. Statistics in the most recent MAiD annual report indicates that 16,499 people received MAID. Only 4.4% of those did not have a “reasonably foreseeable death.” Of that 4.4% most had ALS, MS, organ failure, COPD, congestive heart failure.
They may consider it but are unlikely to be approved without care teams trying to resolve any issues they have.

Canadian doctors do not deny treatment and therefore do not need to “encourage” anyone to consider MAiD. It’s entirely up to the patient to make that decision for themselves.
A great podcast on the cost of this war is the Search Engine episode “The Cost of War.” Eye-opening.
Adding billions to the debt over time as all those munitions will have to be replaced.

The Trump administration has signed multimillion-dollar deals with foreign countries to accept non-citizen deportees.
It has come to my attention that credit card companies charge interest on any unpaid interest from a previous statement.
I pay my balance in full but for those who can’t? This seems predatory.
