Voter-verifiable results: voters can personally confirm their vote is correctly recorded in the results. Auditors can test against ballot stuffing or fake voters.
Cryptographic privacy: 4-of-4 multiparty key + cryptographic shuffle to anonymize votes before they were tallied.
Used Approval Voting: "Vote for *all* the options you approve of" - a spoiler-free, non-polarizing voting method (innovates upon RCV). On top of everything else, this alone is a serious historic win, as its first time being used to elect a state-level American government office.
98% digital: Anyone could opt to vote in-person with paper, but only 1-out-of-50 chose to.
70k eligible voters: Every registered voter in the jurisdiction received mailed invitations with unique Voter Codes to auth themselves: could scan QR or visit website & type in code. + Provisional backup auth methods.
We just ran a vote for what is, afaik, the first American elected office decided majority-digital, open to all citizens.
